Other than "electoral failures of my preferred bougie party are definitely not people voting for the other one but a secret international enemy interfering in the elections while our victories are always legitimate" how exactly does this conspiracy theory work?

That's called sarcasm and you can't prove that Putin is controlling any western politicians anymore than the qanon magas can prove that Biden stole the 2020 elections.
