I can only think of Nixon, but maybe there was someone else more recently. If not, 50+ years is a long time for pepperidge farm to be remembering; at that point we should just be assuming the government has been irredeemable for our entire lives.

This was so long ago that "running her over" was literal, the horse he was riding was speeding and ran over her after knocking her down.
