Why does torrenting slow my Internet down even with a vpn (zerobytes.monster)

So I'm using proton vpn p2p server and I get 100mpbs download speeds (which is the same as without a vpn on all my devices) but as soon as I start downloading a torrent it slows down to 5mpbs download. Does anyone know how to fix this?
