Be proud of your grassroots American stupidity. dude has been bankrupting businesses since the 80's and avoiding taxes like it's nothing and this country voted for him to be president... Twice!

[–] dick_fineman@discuss.online 8 points 1 month ago

Thank you, we are very proud of our special leader...emphasis on "special".

dude bankrupted a casino. that takes a certain set of skills you don't often find. skills like utter stupidity, an inability to count, and a failed basic understanding of how gambling works.

you can't boast a skillset like that. I can't. he's a diamond turd nugget in a stream of fecal and fiscal exceptionalism.

[–] F_State@midwest.social 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

To be fair, it's rumored that casino was being used to launder money AND it's confirmed he personally made a ton of money off that bankrupted casino despite his investors getting screwed.

he’s a diamond turd nugget in a stream of fecal and fiscal exceptionalism.

don't disagree, but also stand by my premise. :D

It's not stupidity. That's just how much Democrats have made the workers of this country hate them.

The Biden admin had an opportunity to accrue historic political capital, but they allowed the working poor to get even poorer for four years, and that made people desperate for change. Any change.

And many voters, having remembered that Donald did nothing about their impoverishment too, just decided not to miss a day's pay on Election Day.

Nothing like some good old fashioned bullshit.

"Stupidity" is what it 100% is, only issue there is that word is an enormous understatement. Blah blah blah genocide Joe, let's all suck off Putin now.

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James 2. Just as faith in Jesus without works is dead, faith in leftism without works is dead.

Always one on a post about Republicans going "blah blah blah but Democrats!"

Pathetic.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

What's pathetic is watching the working poor telling Democrats what they want for four years and during a presidential election campaign, and then Harris decides to spend three months of her campaign meming about joy to poor people. This was after running a candidate they all knew had brain damage until it became a live-televised national embarrassment.

Also, maybe read the whole reply.

I once read a Star Wars conspiracy that Jar Jar was the most successful Sith - he does more damage than any of the overt Sith just by being a moron. I think that comparing trump to Jar Jar is a pretty good match

[–] grue@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm convinced that Darth JarJar was canon until the poor reception the character got made George Lucas chicken out, and that the prequel trilogy would've been way better than the one we got if he'd followed through instead.

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 4 points 1 month ago

Fan outrage causes directors to back off and play it safe, making the film worse.

It really is like poetry. It rhymes.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

According to the behind the scenes documentary on the making of the prequels, Lucas was surrounded by a bunch of young yes men/fans fawning him and praising that his ideas are great. So his silly ideas were not critiqued and included in the movies. Jar Jar would have been taken more seriously had his character design was not silly. If Darth Jar Jar was meant to be canon, Lucas was trying to make a Kaiser Sose out of Jar Jar but failed.

It's a shame that the prequels was badly written because there are plenty of interesting ideas and social commentary, and they are especially relevant now considering where the world is heading. I hadn't thought toxic masculinity and loniless could lead to real life social impact and underestimating it was precisely what the prequels were saying, but Lucas badly conveyed the themes and message.

I'm saying he absolutely is a russian asset. I said what I said.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think their compromat may have faded a bit now that he no longer needs their money and is less politically vulnerable.

They can release the tape of Russian 15 year olds pissing on him, and what's going to happen at this point? Trump is also more confident that he can just diffuse it by saying "AI".

[–] F_State@midwest.social 1 points 3 weeks ago

Especially with the number of Republicans who have indicated that child rape isn't a deal breaker

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Damn the US economy has nice knees.

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Why aren't you saying it? It's been proven over and over.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The problem is that the major indicators used to determine a good economy are all doing fine. The stock market has jumped tremendously over the last couple of years, even with tariffs, and spending is up.

Granted, most of the spending is thanks to the 1%, and it's just seven companies propping up the US economy. The working poor and middle class are in a recession and have been since at least 2020.

It's a house of cards waiting for a passing breeze to blow it all over.

[–] F_State@midwest.social 1 points 3 weeks ago

I try to tell anyone I can IRL that the stock market is not the economy

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

"I used to be strong like you, then I took a baton to the knee" - US economy
