In my experience in lemmy these same people have a very big problem with you not sharing their communist views
My first thought was "this sounds great, can't wait to see how every platform starts fighting against it in the span of two weeks and makes it not work anymore"
You can still do that with your phone
In my company they closed down the main office in the city center since almost no one was actually going over. (Think whole floor and there's maybe 10 people there at once). 4 months later they announced people would have to go back to work 2 days a week and they're already planning for 4 days a week as it was pre COVID.
Luckily in IT they're only demanding this of senior leadership and up since they know we'll jump ship quickly. But the threat looms just so they can look for their investors who only care about their stock going higher.
The remaining office is the original startup building tiny as fuck, loud and uncomfortable with bad wifi in the outskirts of the city. I think the only reason they haven't forced people to just go back is that they physically can't fit all of them into the shitty office at the same time
Don't worry they'll start monetizing LLMs and injecting ads into them soon enough and we'll be back to square one
Mine swallows but gets it's chin soaked in water and drips all over the hardwood floors every time
I love how suddenly companies started advertising things as AI that would have been called a chatbot a year ago. I saw a news article headlinethe other day that said that judges were going to improve the time they took to render judgments significantly by using AI.
Reading the content of the article they went on to explain that they would use it to draft the documents. Its like they never heard of templates
For fucks sake I'm pretty privacy conscious but you guys just take it too far
More like "We don't know what it does or why it's there but it seems important so don't touch it"
But AI! Hurr durr
Now we just need to figure out how to actually sell our data ourselves!
Nah but once the put AI on everything bubble bursts companies will have a sour taste on it and won't be so interested in investing into it.
I believe we'll get a lot of good improvements over it but in people's minds AI will be that weird thing that never worked quite right. It'll be another meme like Cortana on windows so it won't drive stock price at all unless you're doing something really cutting edge.
And good luck competing with the tech giants
