October 21 Prompt - Canon Event Fix-it

I cannot say with certainty with the folks with created the prompt list intended "fix-it" to mean, but I'm choosing to interpret it as something that would "fix" an event in canon. And I think it would be fair to say that there is a lot of little things about canon Trek that I personally would like to maybe...finesse a little bit. However, and maybe it's recency bias, if I was king of Star Trek for a day and got to make one big change, it would be Jack Crusher's whole existence.

October 20 Prompt - Space Madness

I was really enjoying working this one, and I would have liked to do more than just Bones' face, but as I've mentioned before, I am very slow.

The orange connecting cover in the bottom left might mark the first time since IDW started publishing these ongoing books that Tom Paris is recognizably himself.

I'm not super excited by this event. Lore rewriting the galaxy isn't particularly interesting to me. Hopefully we'll get a new Shaxs tie-in, like there was for Day of Blood.

October 9 Prompt - Diplomatic Incident

"It's a finger trap!" When I was a kid, I thought the end of "The Last Outpost", where Riker requests permission to beam a crate of Chinese finger puzzles over to the Ferengi starship was pretty funny. In the hindsight of adulthood, it's pretty silly to think that the Ferengi, even TNG Ferengi, would be so flummoxed by some woven paper cylinders, but it's still fun to think that there's a D'Kora-class marauder out there full of Ferengi out for revenge against the Enterprise over such a simple thing.

There’s an entire audio drama about it that Ryan and Hurd did voice work for.

It is perfectly fine.

In Discovery, instead of honorable warriors, the klingons are a bunch of sneaky backstabbing and coward warriors.

Like they are in TOS?

They also don’t look like klingons at all

Are you similarly upset by the change in appearance the occurred between TOS and TMP?

and architecture

Architecture? I don't know, the House Mo'Kai fortress we see in season two doesn't seem all that out of place. The rounded towers of the capital city seen in ENT is a greater divergence than anything we see in Disco. But that's also fine, because architectural styles change over time.

the speak like their mouth is full of potatoes

And apparently, according to experts in the language, that's the best Klingon has ever sounded on screen. Not really sure how that qualifies as a lore thing, though.

they make ships out of coffins.

One ship. The home of a cult leader.

If you gave me the option of watching “First Contact” or “Sub Rosa”, I would choose planet Scotland ten times out of ten.

Personally I think “Sub Rosa” is a banger with a story that would not be at all out of place in TOS.

This is fucking gross. We're all having a good time here, but let's not try to play sexual assault off as a joke.

Yeah, it's completely nonsensical without the context of the episode.

But they made Badgey blue and had him go off to create his own universe. For me, they might as well have given Mariner a Rorschach mask.

Yeah, I keep looking at it, and I can’t figure it out.

Oh dang, huge flub on my part! Thanks for pointing that out.

Who?

Some character that was added to Seven’s backstory for PIC as near as I can tell.
