October 19 Prompt - Decontamination

I am the gamemaster for an ongoing Star Trek Adventure's campaign, and for today's prompt I decided to draw my players' ship's counselor, Doctor Irin Ch'Kilress, a character I've wanted to draw for a while. Why did I draw a dumpy Andorian therapist for the Decontamination prompt? Because therapy is like decontamination for your mind! But also because I didn't want to draw some horny ENT decon chamber scene.

October 18 Prompt - Captain's Log

"Log" might be a generous description of the branch I ended up drawing, but by the time I decided I wasn't happy with it, it was too late. Also, the positioning of the Jem'hadar makes it look like Sisko hit him while he was on the ground, and if I had more time to fool around with it, I would have arranged him better.

Honestly, I just eyeballed it while looking at some reference images.

My go to for comparing ship sizes is the charts the owner of wixiban.com made based on the measurements included with the Eaglemoss models: https://www.wixiban.com/toys/eaglemoss-trek.htm

I like the idea that the Breen bodies loose consistency upon death, especially if they're more gelatinous in their natural form, as these episodes of DIS appear to be presenting them.

However, I do not envy Kira and Dukat having to scoop a bunch of Breen jello out those helmets before putting them on.

Hey man, if someone is making the choice to be the sort of pathetic loser obsessed with hating a television show, that's their choice. Just as it's my choice to be judgemental of them for the brief period of time they're in front of my eyeballs before I go do something fun and cool.

Personally, I find as I get older my concerns aren’t quite so petty.

Anyone upset about a television show they didn’t like for four days should seriously assess what is actually going on in their lives.

Purchase of a space with vessel counterfeit currency?

But we all know there isn't any money in the Federation!

spoilerYes, I know that was his list of crimes from "I, Mudd". What I'm saying is that the Federation does have money.

I did think it was a bit of a shame that one of Trek’s most powerful ethical quandaries got so easily and blithely technobabbled away

Personally, I've never really thought of it as being that much of a quandary. Janeway's decision wasn't much different from what the Vidiians do; she condemned one innocent being to death so his body could be used to save two others. We recognize it's wrong when the Vidiians are jumping starships to harvest lungs and kidneys, but suddenly we need to have a debate when Janeway is molecularly disentangling Tuvix?

Also, I do think it would have been more interesting to proceed with Tuvix from a storytelling point of view. Obviously that doesn't work great when you have actors contracted for multiple seasons, but VOY is way too eager to hit the reset button.

The only thing I think could have actually made the Tuvix story something worth debating is if we ever learned what Tuvok and Neelix's perspectives were after the fact. But we don't. They never speak of it again. Probably because Janeway threatened to murder anyone on the ship who brings it up.

And speaking of inside remains as a result of transporter accidents, will you do these canon connections posts for the Very Short Treks, (even if they themselves have been declared non-canonical)?

I think that after the season of LDS is done, while we're waiting Disco season five, I'll try and do some Non-Canon Connections. I already did the LDS comic mini-series back before the switch to Lemmy. So I'll probably do all the VST episodes in a single post though so far there seem to be much to work with there. I also started working on one for the PRO video game a while back and I'm about halfway done that. I just got distracted by other games.

Star Trek #10 is a pretty good conclusion to the second story arc. I certainly was not expecting Sisko's trial to end the way it did. Garak gets a really good line.

I was pretty sure they were finally going to reveal what's going on with T'Lir when they were in contact with the Prophets. Their use line about the Bajoran Orbs being weapons given to children did nothing to convince me that T'Lir is not actually Trelene though, which has been my theory since issue three.

Shaxs ruled.

Really looking forward to seeing what completely bonkers nonsense they do with the Day of Blood crossover next month.

As for the rest, they were always treated as variations of the same thing from TMP-ENT

Treated as such by whom? Certainly not the production teams who didn't stick with a consistent design approach from one movie to the next.

Plus the s2 Discovery change isn’t so much a whole new makeup again but the S1 makeup, now with Hair™️.

In season one L'Rell and other Klingon women had elongated skulls that are no longer present in season two. There are other changes as well beyond their growing hair, but that's the major one.
