Witcher 3, Just finished the main story. And boy, CDPR really nailed the story/ character writing in this game. Looking to grab "Hearts of stone" & "Blood and Wind" DLC next GOG sale.

What an amazing 50hr time sink!

I get the feeling that people can sort of "feel" that something is different (Monkey instinct?) despite us acting totally normal.

I think it just mean you blocked/restricted these app's internet access.

I can only speak for Wii emulation, it works great.

OLED deck have excellent Bluetooth compatibility with WiiMotes, I can hook up 4 of them using emulated bluetooth mode. (Can't get passthru mode working tho)

Some configuration beforehand such as changing all four controller slots into "real WiiMote" & enable continues scanning is all you need to do.

Just a side note. Switching between handheld and docked mode is a dull process. In order to switch input source you have to go to desktop mode every time.

The Elden Ring one actually isn't so rare. It feels more like a 10%. Every time I boot up the game I half expect it to crash.

I've been playing DRG on a steam deck, and I noticed that there are much more stutter, even at max wattage.

~~And CPU usage now are no longer evenly split across threads(Only maxing 1 thread per core).~~ (This one is fixed in a quick update)

Anyone encountering similar lag issues on season 5?

Edit: This is likely shader compilation stutter, since it was the beginning of the season and not much cache is shared & built.

Hi privacy community. I genuinely want to hear from both people who are very private and those who didn't go to such an extent.

I started my journy since high school and replaced a lot of stuff since then.

Ditched most of Google's app . Only 2~3 apps on my phone require google play store(Banking/School's app/ Train ticket).

Switched to Protonmail + Email alias, and manage my passwords with Bitwarden.

Got off social media and made sure I removed all data that can be found about me in quick Google searches.

Switched to Linux for desktop.

But

I can't get rid of gmail because I still need those apps, and some professors heavily relies on google services.

Windows ain't getting off my laptop because I need to make sure document format and software compatibility don't become reasons I fail a class.

I feel like the obstacle I hit isn't just convenience anymore, it's my life and the situations I'm in.

I wish to hear what kind of dicisions / realizations / mindsets you guys had in your journy.

Thanks in advance.

It's surprising they've paid for an anti-tamper for THAT long, instead of spending those money to keep updating the game.

Being subscribed to this community taught me that even if you trust the company you're giving your data to(Don't trust any), it's still only a matter of "when" it will be leaked not "if".

It's just a good rule of thumb that all data you give will end up open/sold.

Typing this on a Zenfone 10.

The good thing is that this phone don't really have bad querks like ZF8&9, and the 2 years update only means not getting new android features, Zenfone still works perfectly fine a long time after the 2 year mark.

And yes, Asus has been quite an A** hole in the whole bootloader situation, but putting that aside there are still plenty of ways to tinker a phone without root(Fdroid, adb, launcher, netguard, etc..).

I would say If custom ROMs are too important for you, get a Pixel, they are just that good with it.

But if you are willing to look past that, Zenfones are great.

And.. then you'll find out that stuff piled up so high, it crushes motivation too. :(

Actually glad to hear about this rather than hearing more "Loot boxes" or "Battle pass".

Too often do we feel hate about bad things, and too little do we voice our love toward good things.

I agree. Context matters!

  1. The bigger/closer the screen is the more you'll be discomforted by low fps.

  2. Different genre of games feels different. (Fixed camera games are less likely to dizzy you compared to FPS)

  3. I found that input method plays a role too. M&K or Gyro input will feel sluggish in low fps. Wile pure stick inpit might be fine.

Been tinkering with Wii emulation and found that most posts about how to access Dolphin's menu in game mode are too complex. So I decided to make a post about a simpler method I discovered.

[Assumptions] I'm using EmuDeck to set everything up and accessing the game through game mode. (Steam game Icons set up by Steam ROM manager).

[How To]

  1. So first , go to the game's page and click on the "gear" icon. Then click on "properties".

  2. In launch options, delete the -b in org.DolphinEmu.dolphin-emu -b -e (The -b prevents Dolphin's menu to be created in the first place)

  3. Launch the game, then press the steam button. You will see a second window under the "Switch windows" section. Choose the second one, and you will see Dolphin's menu.

  4. (Edit: There are better navigation solutions in the comments!) ~~In order to navigate it, change controller config to "Web Browser" preset~~
Click on settings you wish to adjust. All the tabs you open in Dolphin menu will also show up under "Switch windows" too.

  5. After you finish adjusting stuff. Simply close the tabs you opened and switch back to the tab that the game is on.

Hope this help people who stumble across this post!

Super Tux Kart and MineTest. Both are on fdroid and have amazing modding capabilities . I will say modding them is part of the fun too.

DRG on Steam Deck OLED performs well, but I want to see how low I can push the TDP while maintaining playability. And I want to share it so others don't have to go thru the hassle.

Assuming battery usage from 90% to 10%,so only 80%(40Wh) is used in playtime estimation.

All presets are tuned with Haz 5 difficulty. Different cave generation/ swarm sizes will cause dips and power hungry moments from time to time.

Modded difficulty are not tested.

(Cyro utility 2.0 used)

In game Settings:

Texture Quality:High , the rest all low.

Using DX12.

fov 103⁰.

Mods used:

-Remove decals

-No ragdolls

-Cyro cannon partical fix

-No flares.

Presets:

7w / 45fps (to be sync with 90Hz) / FSR 2 Ultra Quality / Gpu Auto/ ~4.5 HR / TotalDeckPow=11w

(This one is surprisingly stable, it even have headroom up to 50fps)

9w / 60fps / FSR 1 performance / Gpu Auto / ~3.5 HR / TotalDeckPow=14w

(Really like this one, used most when not desperate for battery.)

11w / 60fps / FSR 1 Ultra Quality / Gpu Auto / 2.5~3 HR / TotalDeckPow=16~17w

(Nice upgrade over the last one, couch gaming recommended!)

2024/4/29 Update, Aiming for nicer stability and no longer pins GPU (Valve fixed the apu's power allocation)

Hi, first time posting on lemmy.(Yay!).

So I often put my steam deck into offline mode since I travel between places a lot . And when I was expecting another gaming session today(without internet), it was dead stuck in "loading user data" screen.

Some symptoms:

  1. The wifi icon have a purple X on it , indicating it's still in offline mode.
  2. Enabling internet does nothing.
  3. Everything in desktop mode works(including internet), except steam.

I've faced this problem once before and had to resolve to a factory reset. Back then I tried

  1. Get away from any Wifi signal and boot up
  2. Go into desktop mode and wait for it"
  3. Hard reboot and switch to a different Wifi network"

None of them worked.

I've heard that you can attempt to recover from this by copying steam user data files from a pc, but I can't confirm this right now.

I want to ask, had anyone encountered this before? Is there a way fixing it other than factory resetting? Thx for any help in advance!
