Corporate dictatorship, doing corporate dictatorship things, because it's a corporate dictatorship.

I was about to say the list was incomplete as several million attended the Iraq war protests, but it turns out that was global and only a few hundred k Americans bothered to protest the invasion of Iraq based on manufactured propaganda.

The post 9/11 bloodthirsty hysteria, "you're either with us or against us" dissonance, religious nationalism, and ignorant patriotism is what made me believe the US would become an authoritarian dictatorship in my lifetime. Great job teenage me. I hate it.

It's not redundant until the mainstream media frames the narrative based on reality instead of propaganda.

Words have meaning, and we should do our best to use the most accurate, truthful words to reframe the narrative and ensure clarity; even when others do not.

To frame it another way; they were enshittified by the infinite-profit-growth fallacy and corruption of capitalism.

So you're saying that they can scan the MAC addresses of devices in airplane mode, a setting designed to not receive or transmit any comms?

Do you have any evidence for these claims, because that is something security researchers could very easily prove?

military grade contractors that sell intel to law enforcement.

So salesmen, who sell products? Like all salespeople they likely promise the world, and like all consultants, they likely advise based on the average/lowest common denominator. So yeah, if you are completely tech illiterate, don't think you can outsmart people on tech literacy...

I've only ever used Prime whenever they offer it free or with a cheaper delivery than it costs.

Last time it started showing ads, so I just pirated everything I wanted to watch. I won't even use it for free anymore, lol.

A cheap af old Android setup as new, with a new/no account, and no sim would probably be better for the majority. A Go pro + sd card are $100+, while a used android can be had for $50. Half the protesters probably already have one sitting in a drawer.

If it's kept in airplane mode and only used for the most basic shit like offline maps, recording audio or video, notes, etc, I don't see how it'd be much of a threat. Ideally you'd want to only connect it to coffee shop wifi and restore it to an old backup after every protest (if you can do offline), but if it's never used for PII, contacts/comms, or any internet services, they can't get much from it.

At the end of the day, if they really want to identify protesters they will. You can't expect anonymity at a protest in 2025. Just don't make it easy for the Gestapo.

Microsoft has been embedded in most enterprises and governments since the 90's.

Though it should be a top priority of every government on earth, replacing it completely with FOSS would likely be a multi-decade IT project (to do it properly, instead of doomed-to-fail attempts).

Lol. I feel ya!

This is why I think the recommendation should be focused on heart rate profiles rather than "running", which is bad for your joints. Let's be real here — the running is just a proxy for a sustained elevated heart rate + oxygenation + full body motion/engagement — so swimming or skipping would likely be a better trade off for your muscular/skeletal system over a lifetime; the problem is that they require "equipment" that's not always available.

Likewise, running in a heavily polluted environment (outdoors in a city) is probably far worse than all other cardio in a cleaner air environment (indoors with HVAC or around air filter).

I think the important part overall is cardio. You need to elevate your heart rate for sustained periods of time. Lifting weights is better than not, but your brain benefits from the increased and improved blood flow "to clean out the garbage" (much like quality sleep).

Not really "powertripping". Just pathetic. Consider this a notice to avoid feddit.org... I've unsubbed and blocked the instance.

We can't dehumanize fascists for their choice to dehumanize everyone for things outside their control though, because that would be mean, and hurt their sociopath feefees!

Europe stool idly by throughout the 1930's "tolerating" fascism, and the Nazi's killed over 100 million people. Don't make the same mistake as the radical centrists of history. Fascists will not afford you the same tolerance or courtesy.

First comment removed from asklemmy thread about who's good/bad re Israel/Palestine is apparently too nuanced and anti-extremist for snowflake dessalines. Ya gotta fuel the hate and extremism if ya wanna comment round tankie parts...

The linux ban was regarding a comment (pretty sure the OG comment was different) about Russian maintainers being removed from the linux project. Obviously you can't call out capitalist Putin's authoritarian dictatorship in the communist sub, because ML mods are pro-authoritarian and pro-dictatorship; not anti-capitalist... At this point I'm convinced most "tankies" are just PsyOps operatives.

I can't figure out how to view my own reply comment anymore, but a /Ukraine user commented this insanity and I called them out — that cornering a sociopathic nuclear armed dictator is recklessly stupid, and exactly what will trigger a nuclear war — and got massively downvoted for "enabling Russia". 90% of the user base agreed with "conquering" Russia, and thought previous mini incursions across the border are equivalent; proving that nukes are a forever bluff.

The best part? After inspecting several of the mods and users comment histories I realized all seem to have nothing to do with Ukraine whatsoever, and appear to be young pro-war machine North American jarheads (or keyboard warrior wannabes), who sub to or mod numerous other military related communities.

Thus, conservatism and neoliberalism are, in reality, the radical agenda...

Broke timestamps. Everywhere. New replies will show "10 hrs" while the original comment will show "18 mins".

When viewing posts I see tons of phantom comments that seemingly have nothing to do with the post or are replying to something when they appear at the top level. Navigating to the post in a web browser shows dozens more comments (not from users I've blocked or anything).

Formatting of content across posts and comments doesn't match what the site does when I view it in the browser.

Thanks to the Memmy dev and any contributors, but broken software is broken software.

So, what's the best alternative these days?
