Even Lenin was critical of the USSR before he died. He wrote about it in his book "Better Fewer, But Better".

"We must reduce our state apparatus to the utmost degree of economy. We must banish from it all traces of extravagance, of which so much has been left over from tsarist Russia, form its bureaucratic capitalist state machine."
And then they call Trotsky the traitor... when Lenin himself was already sounding the alarm on the rot from within. It’s hilariously ironic how the system they built devoured its own, yet the critiques came too late to stop the damage.
The state is counter-revolutionary. Always.
