c/ChavLovers: For people who like Chavs and think they get a bad rap!

"Chavs" (aka Charvers, Charvas, or Scallies - "Chav" comes from the shortened version of "Charver") are a subculture/fashion and music sense in Britain (like punks, goths, emos, nerds, etc) that has existed since the late 1990s.

Though they are sometimes likened to "British Rednecks", anyone of any background, gender, or age can be a chav. Chavs sport a distinctive look/fashion sense - baseball caps, tracksuits, North Face puffer jackets, sports trainers, and often a gold chain that's worn around the neck (sometimes also gold bracelets or sovereign rings). They often like listening to UK Garage and the subculture is associated with a punkish attitude. If you've encountered someone looking like what I described while calling you "mush", chances are you just encountered a chav!

Though it's not as prevalent as back in the 2000's (when sites like "chavscum" were hugely popular), the British media and many people still like to demonise "Chavs". This community is for people who don't think they're all as bad as they're said to be.

c/Sealioning: A community for posting examples of sealioning and similar forms of trolling

Rules:

  1. pls obscure all usernames!

  2. This is not a community for trolls. this is a community for raising awareness of these types of trolls and how they operate.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning

Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.[5][6][7][8] It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate",[9] and has been likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.[10] The term originated with a 2014 strip of the webcomic Wondermark by David Malki,[1] which The Independent called "the most apt description of Twitter you'll ever see".[2]

Sealions are adorable animals. the trolls, not so much. If you see an example of sealioning, feel free to post it here!

Quick example would be something like a person saying "the US is currently ran by a fascist who supports genocide", which is referring to Donald Trump supporting Israel. The sealion will reply with "who? What genocide?" the sealion knows what the person means but pursues them for relentless requests of evidence as a way of trying to waste the person's time. recognising sealioning is the most effective means of dealing with them

c/stupid_questions: Answer Questions never been answered before (probably because they have never been asked)

Ask anything you would consider too vague or too stupid. It is not supposed to be very refined or thought through, it can as well be a string of random symbols, just tell us how to read them. Consider it a very serious questions community, where questions most definitely are not serious, or the other way round. WE APPRECIATE ABSURDISM. WE APPRECIATE CREATIVITY. WE THRIVE ON ANSWERING GENUINE CURIOSITY!

These could be questions which you think a 5 year or 10 year old would ask, but you are not 5/10 year old and you don't have anybody to ask.

Rules:

  • Standard Netiquette reference - TL;DR - just be civil

  • Lemmy Instance Guidelines - TL;DR - just be civil

  • Post format is simple - it should be a question. You can add additional context to your delight, for example, what do you expect the answer to be, or how do you think one should try to answer it. Questions can be any any language (preferably english) but do what you like, just tag the post appropriately (you can select language while creating post). NSFW is fine as well, but please tag appropriately.

  • Stupid in a general sense - Ideally questions should not be stupid because they use fancy words. For example, if someone asks - why do we not use ferritic steels in cold temperatures? This question is stupid to all metaallurgy people because almost all of them know of ductile to brittle transition. But how many of us are metallurgists? (or have taken some crystal structure courses). They can be niche, we are not against questions that only some of us understand, but if you think the questions are too specific, give us additional context. WE ARE WELL SERVING SERVERS!

  • Academic Integrity - try to answer questions just the best way you can. if you think a alphabet is good, just do it, if you think.

  • New Rules maybe added in future - to which all of you also agree to while creating any post. YOU MUST OBEY A CONTRACT INDEFINITELY. BY POSTING/COMMENTING, YOU ARE CONSIDERED TO BE AGREEING THIS CONTRACT. IF YOU FAIL TO UPHOLD TO THE CONTRACT, YOU SHALL SACRIFICE YOUR FIRST BORN CHILD OR BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES OF ENRAGING THE GODS WHO SHALL PUT A CURSE OPEN THOU (or the subsequent ones in case you already sacrificed one, we are accepting in that sense, we would not be cursing your lineage/subsequent lives and stuff. If you do not have kids, then have them. The kid should be born or Feb 29 of any year, and must be 32 years and 42 days old at the time of sacrifice. Please do remember to contact us for the birthday parties, we can bring the best food and entertainment (rated the 17th best party organiser, by my friends list of - best birthday organisers who were born on 29th feb). Also, most of the blessed servants of god (read moderators) are very kind, and can "pardon" your crimes, for appropriate gifts).

c/love: Love

About

Share your love for someone here!

This community is not in any way connected to r/love, other than name, rules and theme.

The goal

I noticed there was no specific love community on Lemmy, so I made my own for all the romantics in the world!

Rules

Most of these were taken from r/love as they established a great baseline for what a lovely post should be.

  1. Love is love: Everyone is allowed to talk about any kind of love - romantic, familial, platonic, or what have you. The only limitation of this rule will be lack of consent or incest

  2. No moping: Specific lamenting about lost loves is okay. But general moping is a bummer

  3. No jerks: Don't be racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, or intolerant of alternative lifestyles between consenting adults. And don't be an a-hole.

  4. Love is NOT:

  • Just dating
  • Crushing/Infatuation
  • Obsession
  • Control
  • Possession
  • Harassment or unwelcome "persistence"
  1. No R4R posts or personals: This is not a dating site.

  2. Title/body length: we don't enforce this, but try to have at least 10 words in your post's title and 25 in the body.
