bee populations are declining rapidly due to habitat loss, pesticides, parasites, and climate change.

Not sure why habitat loss is listed since honeybees are invasive in the U.S. We should be focusing harder on saving native pollinators.

Can your toaster produce fascist propaganda?

Mozilla says that “there are a number of places where we collect and share some data with our partners” so that Firefox can be “commercially viable,” but it adds that it spells those out in its privacy notice and works to strip data of potentially identifying information or share it in aggregate.

Sounds like they've already been selling (or trading) data and this whole debacle is a way to retroactively cover their asses.

Since my comment on the previous post, I've seen:

The Goonies (rewatch)

Pineapple Express (rewatch)

Nickel Boys (theater)

Flow (theater)

Speed

The Other Guys (rewatch)

Universal Soldier

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Did a double feature with my S/O at the theater on Saturday with Nickel Boys and Flow. Both were very good in their own ways.

Lots of rewatches this week since I was just in mood to watch some of my goto comfort movies.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Speed before but it's been so long and my memory of it is so vague, I'm considering it basically a first time watch. Great action flick. Keanu is goofy and fun as usual and Sandra Bullock is very charming in her role.

Universal Soldier was very dumb and pretty much a ripoff of Terminator. Very fun action flick nonetheless. Would be a good one to watch and riff on with friends.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding was pretty good. It was interesting that it's a romcom that avoids a lot of romcom tropes and had an unconventional protagonist for the genre, but still works perfectly fine as a romcom.

This is pretty normal. Every time there's a big wave of new fediverse users, a big chunk eventually goes back to their original social media. Some portion will stick around to be regular users and the cycle will repeat again next time a social media company pisses off a bunch of people.

In the past week, I've watched:

Paddington in Peru (theater)

Moonstruck

The Gorge

Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse

Cape Fear

The Monkey (theater)

I'd say both The Monkey and Paddington in Peru are among my favorite 2025 movies so far (though it's early obv).

Moonstruck is always great, watched it with my fiancée for Valentines Day.

The Gorge was pretty mediocre with some interesting bits, but it just didn't work for me overall.

Spiderman was great; idk why I hadn't seen it yet but I love how the newer animated Spiderman movies experiment with different art styles.

Cape Fear was good. I loved how unhinged De Niro was in this.

What truly makes a difference for users is your attention to the product and their needs.

This is the most important thing here. Additional thing to consider that in my experience devs regularly overlook: how easy is it to implement and support?

Yeah, I play a lot of emulated retro games on my deck. I used Emudeck to get set up but I've heard Retrodeck is another good option. It works very well for me.

I thought about mentioning that but removed it since the invites would really only be able to come from the admin and maybe a small select group of people. Setting up an invite system with a spreadsheet and involving more than just a few people would likely become a messy and complex endeavor very quickly.

I don't think Lemmy has it (there is an open issue for invitation links that I don't believe anyone has worked on). I don't think MBin or Piefed have it either. Not sure about Mastodon. The beauty of FOSS though is if someone wants it bad enough, they can implement it themselves.

If that's something you want to try out, then set up an instance and try it out.
