Geoff takes some time to explore ~~all~~ some of the reasons the Uzumaki adaptation went so wrong. I didn't watch the show, but being an outside observer of the community's reaction has been fascinating. The roller coaster of emotions from episode 1 to episodes 2+ is something that I will remember for some time.

From the article:

In an interview that The Hollywood Reporter entertainment news source posted on Tuesday, John Wick franchise co-creator and director Chad Stahelski revealed that the franchise's planned anime will be a prequel feature film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will show "at least some" of the "impossible task" that allowed the title character to retire prior to the story of the first live-action film.

This isn't surprising considering how popular the first season was, especially in Japan. The impression I got is that the production side was caught off-guard with its success, which could explain why it has taken a while to organize a season 2 if they weren't planning on it from the beginning.

A lot of the anime-related communities have consolidated over time to the ani.social instance. There are historical reasons for this (largely due to hostility from the ml admins), and if you want a brief history for just the general anime community, I previously wrote a post here.

That being said, the ani.social instance has been growing with new communities being added. Here are the more active ones:

General Communities

Series-Specific Communities

Misc.

Alright, I am getting caught up on posts after being on the beach for the day and we have had three posts about this closure at this point. This article is the most informative and complete so far. I will remove future posts about this event unless any kind of major development happens or significant new information comes to light.

My understanding is that this is going to be a complete remake starting from the beginning. I expect that the pacing should be a lot better with this remake (in addition to modern visual improvements) so that something like One Pace shouldn't be necessary with this one.

It is updated now, but when I first pulled up the Crunchyroll article, they still had a placeholder image in the article instead of the key visual. In case you are curious, their placeholder image is Anya:

It's been a while since I read a chunk of the manga, and I couldn't remember, so I pulled up the mangadex page to check. It is listed as suggestive, but it has chapters labeled as (Uncensored). Flipping through a couple, it would indeed need censoring to be broadcast.

This season was over way too quickly. Here's to hoping that we get more Konosuba soon.

I highly recommend watching the trailer for this one (it even has English subs). This looks like the most absurd, over-the-top, random thing I have ever seen and I cannot wait to see more.

Alright everybody. Strap in for some isekai Freaky Friday. There were so many great moments this episode. I really appreciate how hard they committed to the bit of Kazuma and Eris sitting in silence. That cracked me up after I realized that my video wasn't just frozen. Also, it gave us this gem (@rikka@ani.social):

The whole sequence of how all his party members were hailed as heroes while he was ignored after the battle was fantastic. I also loved that Aqua's resurrection technique was to chug booze and then spit it on a corpse. I am curious what the fallout will be once Darkness and Claire figure out who was in the bath with them.

I think this depends on the intended audience. My answer would be different depending on if I am talking to somebody familiar with the anime landscape vs somebody not familiar with anime. Trying to keep things generally spoiler-free below...

For the anime-initiated

  • Fullmetal Alchemist (not Brotherhood) - I know, this makes me a terrible person, but I actually like the anime-original ending of the first Fullmetal at a conceptual level. It raises a lot of questions about the nature of alchemy and how it is inseparable from violence. You can really read a lot into it and apply it to things irl.
  • Usagi Drop - The manga has ruined this series for many, many folks in the greater anime community. However, just taking the anime as a standalone piece of media, Usagi Drop is a great series.

For casuals

  • The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You - The title of this series makes people think that this is just some trashy, fan service filled, harem trash....which it kind of is. But, at the same time, it is actually hilarious and quite touching a lot of the time. The premise is ridiculous, but so is how much effort they put into making sure that it is executed to perfection.
  • Reincarnated as a Vending Machine - Another series in which the title makes it sound incredibly stupid. However, I enjoyed this show a lot and it was way better than I had thought the premise would allow.
  • Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai - This is a series that I have recommended to people irl before and gotten some weird looks in return after they hear the title. In reality, this is a great series that uses supernatural occurrences to explore the insecurities and difficulties that arise as children grow up.

Not that I remember. This is from "Farming Life in Another World" which is an exceedingly ordinary show. I have watched the show and read the manga, but I don't remember this as a plot point (and I am pretty sure this would have stuck in my brain). If I remember correctly, this scene is the group of elves introducing themselves to the MC as they are moving into his village.

Pretty funny joke subs though. Something as crazy as this might have made the show more interesting tbh.

Here is a post on the anime community about it. Basically, there is a bit of a backlash against Mappa by others in the industry right now for setting timelines way too aggressively, forcing tons of overtime on the animators.
