Update: The AMA has concluded. You guys are awesome, and thank you for participating. I hope you found my Admiral-y wisdom insightful.

I'm trying to be less of a lurker here, so figured this would be a good starter post.

I'll still reply now, but not in character. Unless you ask a stupid question ;)

Uncensored Version:

At the end there's a moral of the story bit, and they realise they were all being dicks trying to figure out who was 'not a true vulcan' for nothing. It turned them all into assholes, and they have to come to terms with their internal bigotry and xenophobia.

Spock is somehow in on the truth and sits there with his damn popcorn relishing every fucking moment.

Scene in Question is an opening scene of Star Trek: Beyond.

However, the bloopers have two amazing gems too. Pine repeatedly failing his line in this scene will forever be amongst my favorite bloopers as well. Runner up in that blooper reel is Quinto fucking up his line and saying "Captain we are not engaged fuck!" causing Pine to immediately fall apart.

It was scrapped because of some nonsense about "scaring the children"

“I called her and I said, ‘Hey, this is Jimmy Doohan. Scotty of Star Trek. I’m doing a convention in Indianapolis, and I want to see you there.'” he explained. “I saw her. Boy, I’m telling you — I couldn’t believe what I saw. It was definitely suicide. Somebody had to help her, somehow. And, obviously, she wasn’t going to the right people.”

Doohan told the woman about each surrounding area convention (and some in nearby states) that he would be at and said he wanted to see her at each.

“That went on for two or three years, maybe 18 times,” he said. “And all I did was talk positive things to her. And then all of a sudden — nothing. I didn’t hear anything, and I had no idea what was really happening to her because I never really saved her address. Eight years later, I get a letter saying, ‘I do want to thank you so much for what you did for me, I just got my master’s degree in electronic engineering.'”

Check in on the people you love. You never know what someone is going through and just being there can help way more than you might know. Trust me as someone who doesn't have anyone there.

Life is hard enough as it is. I'm tired. I'm exhausted. Give me hope for a better tomorrow that I honestly can't see. Gimme Star Trek.

That being said, what do you think is the funniest episode of TNG and the scariest episode? I can't make up my damn mind on what to watch. I'm starting with Schisms because fuck that holodeck clicking scene.

Also after posting this and taking a look at the home screen, I feel like I'm dangerously close to spamming. If I haven't already. If it becomes a problem please let me know. Gonna back off a bit today.
