honestly, torrentio is the only one I ever need
Yeah this is all I need. A couple of weeks ago it was going down most nights so I still have my Kodi build with Seren but it only gets used as a backup these days. Would love a few add-ons like Fights on Demand through Stremio though, only thing missing for it to be the perfect streaming solution for me.
Me too, especially for anime it shines on that, but I like "thinkering" so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think it's days are numbered sadly people keep posting it on TikTok and everytime it can't handle it. I've a feeling the maker will eventually tire of that then the endless complaints of TikTok users who are really the ones breaking it.
Now there are some alternatives but none that do it as well and its only a matter of time before they face the same.
My guess is I'll be reinstalling Kodi sometime soon. Lately I've even seen people posting about Stremio and torrentio places like the Reddits official Netflix sub, so yeah cats well out of the bag and I think it's on a timer now.
Just really hope someone with the right skills and resources can fork and host it before it's gone.
nothing is permanent.
There’s a self-hosted option for Torrentio that I admittedly haven’t set up but am saving for when it inevitably becomes useless
I prefer CloudStream

My experience with cloudstream was mixed to say the least. The UI is a confusing mess for starters and I've lost count of the amount of times some show just wouldn't load or is in some very shitty low resolution, not to mention chromecast support barely works.
What is the provider source you used?
I think many are very well served with Sorastreams.
Also I think the UI is very Netflix-like, so not confusing at all for most people, but yeah I feel more comfortable navigating with Stremio.
About Chromecast I do agree, I started using Android apps to have a good Kodi replacement "on the go" I ended up setting up Stremio (which worked better than CS when casting), and even became my main when I realized it had ATV versions as well plus settings synced in all my devices lol.
I don't really remember which sources I used, I think Sorastreams was one, but even then it was a shot in the dark. Sometimes I'd get decent quality, sometimes I'd get really bad quality... Stremio is just more consistent and I have more control overall.
Yeah I agree with the last part.
I think CS really shines with anime streams (and it was way better when Crunchyroll streams worked) but Stremio with Torrentio and Kitsu don't fall too far.
SoraStream
Huh, other than having the latest source of the addon, I don't think you need to do anything, AFAIK SoraStream fetches content from many websites, so you'll likely have issues if you are watching "unpopular" or "obscure" stuff, and even then I think it should be able to have some sources for it.
For example, I was looking at what website it had Shaman King Flowers with Spanish subs, and I couldn't find any with a good quality, SoraStream provided me one, with deficient subs though.
Hmmm ok I wonder if I'm having app issues. I'm on 4.0.0 which I installed from stormunblessed. Should I switch to the recloudstream version? I didn't realize there was more than one
Yeah, switch to that version, and use the beta version as well, stable is very outdated.
Thank you!
Actually my setup is:
-
Stremio for everything
-
CloudStream for anime and 1080p content
-
Kodi as a backup of Stremio
-
Plex with my limited but curated content
In that order.
Add syncribullet to that list.
