Family left for a camping trip so I had a weekend all for myself. Went to an XVIII convent with a friend and it was great! Last time I had gone to one was like fifteen years ago so this made me very happy.

Later had fish fish for dinner, family is not too happy about my fish cooking choices.

Next day I went shopping for art materials and had lunch at a nice coffee place, then came back and baked brownies so the house would smell delicious when my people came back.

Well, I kept trying to squat like most people do trying so hard not to lean forward and kept falling over on my ass lol. That and also I couldn't feel the work in my glutes, only quads. Are you familiar with the way little children squat? I still can't do it but getting better every day by practicing.

Turns out I have super tight hips and that prevented me of hinging correctly, plus the aformentioned femur/torso ratio.

I hired a personal trainer in january of this year to help me out with stuff and she helped me correct my form. Now I use a pair of those foam wedge things under my heels to prop me up in a better position and I can squat way better. It was a game changer.

Learning the proper way to squat for my long femurs/short torso body. It makes such a difference in how and where I feel the muscle work. Knees over toes be damned!

She's a cutie! What's her name? I like her coat.

I had insomnia for decades. I did everything under the sun: workout, hot shower, warm milk, counting, breathing techniques, melatonin (beware of side effects with continous use), no screens, etc etc. Nothing worked and then per my doctor's orders I take magnesium glycinate and it works like magic

I always get my SO three things every year: one thing he really wants (This year is a pair of submarine shears), something he needs (New hiking boots) and something that he wouldn't get for himself (A week in cabin/shack at secluded beach in the caribbean to fish, scuba dive and relax).

There is a very skittish mare that I leave alone because of said skittishness. Today while browsing my phone I was leaning on the stall wall right by her not paying attention when suddenly she came up and put her head next to mine in a "what are we looking at" kind of gesture. She stayed there for a bit while I was trying my best to stay still and not let my excitement show too much. It made me feel special.

I wish the person who laid down the stone paths you just described could read what you so beautifully wrote about their special place.

ETA: I have read and downloaded many of your recommendations and have had lots of fun reading them! You are such a welcoming enthusiastic bunch. Thanks a lot! Still looking for more suggestions in case someone wants to add to the ever growing list. So far this year I have read twenty seven books.

Looking for some good mystery novels/short story compilation, etc. Preferably no sci fi or futuristic stuff, no Stephen King. TIA.

FWIW just finished reading "We have to talk about Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. It was OK.

As stated above. I can go months without eating an egg, for example, and suddenly crave eggs benedict for breakfast everyday.

Good thing is my dietitian is aware of this executive dysfunction/quirk/habit and works closely with me to help me out planning meals in a way that works me.

Right now I am on a soup kick: Soup, soup, soup everyday, all day.

ETA A word

This thread is so wholesome ❤️ It made me smille to know how many people are loved and cherished by a significant other.

  1. A plot of land in a place I like. Nothing fancy or huge, just a place to be by myself and enjoy a nice bonfire away from people.

  2. Headphones. The old clunky ones that cover your whole ears. I love them! They feel like a hug and I use them all the time while listening to spooky stories. Bought them in a sale about four years ago.

  3. A hello kitty backpack. Bought it as a birthday gift for a friend's daughter, we had a fallout and I kept it. One day I needed a clean backpack and this was on hand so I grabbed it in a whim and have been using it ever since. I have a pair of Columbia, silver ridge and tetons laying around but this fluffy cute backpack makes me so happy and has the perfect size.

Fat people. There, I said it.

Seeing two horses fighting. The sheer size of them is enough to scare me, but getting aggresive biting and kicking was something else.
