WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his office said Sunday.

Biden was seen by doctors last week after urinary symptoms and a prostate nodule were found. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer on Friday, with the cancer cells having spread to the bone.

Hamas has strongly condemned Israel for what it called as a deliberate and coordinated attack on Palestinian journalists, calling it part of an “ongoing campaign of persecution and killing” aimed at silencing media voices in Gaza.

The group identified the five journalists killed in Israel’s latest round of air strikes as Aziz al-Hajjar, Nour Qandil, Abdul Rahman al-Abadlah, Khaled Abu Saif and Ahmed al-Zinati.

According to Hamas, “their homes and tents were bombed at dawn today, leading to their martyrdom, along with their children and families, in a complex crime that embodies the brutality of this fascist entity”.

It added that Israel's actions reflect a systematic effort to wipe out independent reporting from Gaza, where journalists have continued to document the devastating impact of the war.

“The fact that the world remains paralysed in the face of these crimes - committed for months in full view of the international community - is reprehensible,” the statement said.

Since 7 October 2023, Israeli assaults have killed over 230 Palestinian journalists and media professionals in Gaza, marking the bloodiest period on record for the press in any conflict.

A growing number of the world’s leading genocide scholars believe that Israel’s actions in Gaza constitute genocide, according to an investigation by Dutch newspaper NRC.

The paper interviewed seven renowned genocide researchers* from six countries - including Israel - all of whom described the Israeli campaign in Gaza as genocidal. Many said their peers in the field share this assessment.

"Can I name someone whose work I respect who does not think it is genocide? No, there is no counterargument that takes into account all the evidence," Israeli researcher Raz Segal told NRC.

Professor Ugur Umit Ungor of the University of Amsterdam and NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies said that while there are certainly researchers who say it is not genocide, "I don't know them".

The Dutch paper reviewed 25 recent academic articles published in the Journal of Genocide Research, the field’s leading journal, and found that “all eight academics from the field of genocide studies see genocide or at least genocidal violence in Gaza”.

In a statement published Thursday, the company acknowledged public and internal concerns about whether Microsoft Azure and AI products had been used “to target civilians or cause harm” in Gaza.

The statement follows months of pressure from Microsoft employees and rights groups, demanding transparency over its relationship with the Israeli military.

The company said it does not have visibility into how customers use Microsoft products on private servers or devices, and that cloud operations for IMOD are supported “through contracts with cloud providers other than Microsoft.”

The Israeli military is changing its story on the 2022 killing of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh – again.

This time, it’s in response to our new investigative documentary, ‘Who Killed Shireen?’ which revealed for the first time the name of the Israeli soldier who fired the fatal shots.

It is hard to keep the ever-shifting stories straight.

When we reached out to the Israeli military for comment earlier this month before we released ‘Who Killed Shireen?’ their response was that it declined to comment. But then, after the film was finalized, the Israeli military story changed – again.

Now, the Israeli military says, “There is no definitive determination regarding the identity of the individual responsible for the shooting that caused the journalist’s death.”

That is in direct contradiction to what the Israeli military officials told foreign reporters when they briefed them on their investigation’s final conclusions. The Israeli military story went from essentially saying: ‘We spoke to the soldier who killed her and he didn’t mean to do it,’ to ‘we couldn’t figure out which soldier might have killed her.’

-الاخبار المتداولة الان، والتي نشرت على موقع الجرمق تحديدا عن تعرض رجا اغبارية لاصابة في راسه بالغة الخطورة غير صحيحة، ومبنية على ما قاله رفيقنا اثناء المحكمة في تاريخ ٢٢/نيسان، وأخبرنا الرفيق رجا أنه تم الاعتداء عليه وضرب رأسه بزوايا الباب خلال طريقه إلى المحكمة. وهذا ما وردنا من قبل شهر وليست هناك أي معلومات عن أصابة جديدة في الرأس والخطر الصحي هو قطع الادوية والاعتداء عليه بالضرب على قدميه وفي منطقة الحوض تحديدا ما ادى الى صعوبة في عملية السير بشكل مستقل وتحديدا قدمه اليسرى.

وبالنسبة للمسار القانوني؛ تم تقديم التماس للمحكمة المركزية في بئر السبع للمطالبة بمقابلته ومتابعة وضعه الصحي الحساس وعينت جلسة للنظر في هذا الالتماس يوم الاثنين الساعة الثانية في سجن رامون، وهو نفس اليوم الذي من المفترض ان تعقد فيه جلسة إقرار الاداري في حيفا، وقد قدم طاقم الدفاع عن الرفيق اغبارية طلبا للمحكمة المركزية في حيفا لتأجيل محكمة قرار الاداري حتى السماح لطاقم الدفاع لقاء اغبارية. وقدم طلب اخر لمحكمة بئر السبع في احضار الرفيق رجا اغبارية للمحكمة بما انها في السجن.

Unicef has called for an end to violence in Gaza following the killing of at least 45 children in the past two days.

“The reported killing of at least 45 children in the Gaza Strip in the last two days is yet another devastating reminder that children in Gaza are suffering first and foremost, having to starve day after day only to be victims of indiscriminate attacks," the agency said in a statement.

It added that over 950 children were killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip in just the past two months and stressed that the "daily suffering and killing of children must end immediately”.
