Patty runs along exclaiming,"An extra!!" "I wonder what happened?"

She stops next to Charlie Brown and asks,"What is it, Charlie Brown? An earthquake? A flood?"

She grimaces and stands with her hands akimbo as he replies,"Oh, no I just happened to have an extra paper left over!"

Violet is standing holding a roasting fork while Charlie Brown is walking over carrying a pile of wood. Violet says " Let's build the fire right here"

Violet is sitting down next to the camp fire roasting a Wiener while Charlie Brown is standing up with his fork empty. Violet is saying " I really love to roast Wieners"

Charlie Brown is now sitting as well and Violet says to him" Aren't you going to put a wiener on your fork, Charlie Brown?"

Both are sitting by the fire and Charlie Brown replies to Violet " I'm not hungry!

Charlie Brown walks down the lane scowling. Violet looks after him and says,"I don't care what you call me, Charlie Brown"

She calls out,"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me!!!"

She walks off grimacing.

She turns back and calls,"You blockhead!"

Trivia:

The first time Charlie Brown is called a blockhead. This strip is adapted in Good Grief, Charlie Brown: Peanuts, with Lucy replacing Violet

He grits his teeth and chases her. She runs along saying, "Sometimes I get the best of that ol' Charlie Brown!"

Snoopy sits watching as she walks by pulling the wagon with her. She turns to him and says,"If I can't keep you away from my garden, I'll have to keep my garden away from you!"

Charlie Brown watches from afar and complains,"Rats! I do all the work, and he gets all the glory!!"

Snoopy looks behind him questioningly as he realizes that Charlie Brown is following him.

He rummages into the croquet box as Patty crouches across from him. He exclaims,"Hey, Patty, we're short two wickets!" She asks,"Are you sure?"

Snoopy sits and looks up at her questioningly as she turns to look at him and says,"Hmm...."

He stoops in front of him and exclaims,"All you have to do is hold still...the game won't last forever!"

The basic gag is recycled from the Li'l Folks strip from May 29, 1949:
