I think there was an actual production car that did this, I remember seeing it in a movie and also reading some random trivia of a us president enjoying pranking friends by driving into lake.

Yeah the Amphicar and of course it was President Johnson who had one and pranked people. I got to examine one up close, it is a cool little 60s convertible with a retractable clutched propeller, probably super dangerous but looks fun.

It's on display at at his ranch/national historic site in Texas. He used to scare the LIFE out of visitors with it. Like, act like the brakes failed, then power over a dam and into the lake without warning. Sociopath.

There's one at the Gulley Auto Museum in Houston, which if you get a chance to go is amazing for cars.
