David Hogg will not seek reelection to his Democratic National Committee leadership position after the party announced Wednesday that members had voted to redo the vice chair contests he and Malcolm Kenyatta won in February.
“Ultimately, I have decided to not run in this upcoming election so the party can focus on what really matters,” Hogg said in a statement.
Hogg’s decision not to run again ends a monthslong intraparty fight between the young gun control advocate and much of the national committee that has distracted from the party’s efforts to rebuild after devastating 2024 election losses.
The outgoing vice chair has accused party leaders of attempting to oust him from his position over frustration with his plan to primary “ineffective” Democratic incumbents in safe seats through his PAC Leaders We Deserve.
The Democrats just don't get it. The old ways didn't work and they're not going to start working, ever. It's way past time to get rid of your geriatric leadership, our democracy is slipping away.
Babyboomers will literally die before acknowledging they've ever done anything wrong.
It's sad to say, but I honestly think the vaccines came out too soon. If the virus has another 6 months to a year to actually scare/eliminate some of the older people in Congress we wouldn't be in this mess. A literal miracle of science allowed people to engage in mass denialism so great that a significant portion of the population literally won't acknowledge millions of people died.
We saved a bunch of geriatric fucks just to allow them to ruin lives of their grandchildren.
I don't think this is a generational issue anymore, personally.
Donald being able to diversify and expand his coalition tells me that, whether it's Fox News or TikTok, digital radicalization is working across multiple generational boundaries in order to produce the desired result for extremists. (Dems choices to leave people in poverty when they had power figures into this as well, but not as much as people being able to find radicalizing content in their pocket every moment of every day.)
I agree in part, but I also think that the adoption of thirdway politics by the boomers led to the material conditions that is the real reason why so many young people are so susceptible to radicalization.
If younger people were granted the educations and careers that were offered to older generations, they're wouldn't really be a reason for them to need to find a scapegoat for all their problems.
Those are good points. Boomers have 100% created the conditions for widespread radicalization, and continue to do so by supporting upward wealth transfer policies.
