Are you being sarcastic? I really don't know. Some people love the book, but it's also a tough read if you aren't already familiar with the context and pop-culture references. It doesn't follow a traditional narrative structure, and the end just sort of ends. Characters are introduced and then forgotten, or they reappear later with different attitudes and motivations. Cervantes also explicitly describes himself as an unreliable narrator.
I love it, but it's not an easy recommendation for everyone.
If you read it as a kid without problems, you were most likely either a particularly gifted kid or reading an abridgement
