Reminder that T-Mobile is partnering up with Musk's Starlink.
Reminder that Starlink (and T-Mobile via their home internet program) is bringing the modern internet to millions who couldn't get anything more than conventional sattelite or dial up internet, both of which are comparable in speed to getting in your car and driving to the library.
My point is that Starlink isn't just a stupid toy for rich people to put on their RVs, yachts, and now planes, it's many individual's only way to connect to the modern internet.
I hate Elon. I can't hate on Starlink and the connectivity it's provided to rural individuals with no other options. It's really unfortunate that his name is attached to the work of the engineers that made it possible.
At what point is a company's "good" outweighed by the damage that the company's profits wreak on society? Starlink is one of the main financial engines funding Elon Musk. And his DOGE cuts may lead to 14 million deaths, for instance. Is that worth it for rural internet? Is it worth it for the engineers?
You, as a consumer, have a choice about where to spend your hard-earned cash—and whether you let it become blood money.
