If you’re in a food desert then how did you build up all that arterial plaque?
Bro, in a food desert – it's all fast-food joints and corner stores. Arteries are getting clogged up with all those fries and sodas.
But that’s not a desert tho… deserts are barren of all sustenance it just healthy sustenance

But...that is the common definition of "food desert."
"A food desert is an area that has limited access to affordable and nutritious food."
I realize the article has issues, but the definition has sources cited for its common usage. If you don't like the definition, fine, but it's a definite term for a defined phenomenon. You don't get to pretend the phenomenon doesn't exist because the term isn't perfect...
Maybe English isn't their first language. I never heard of the phrase before. TIL.
