Hi fellow sync-ers,

Having joined Lemmy recently, I have been having a ton of fun. However accessing Lemmy through my mobile browser has been an awful experience, similar to my past Reddit experience till I found Sync.

I'm not sure how much longer I can tolerate the browser experience, and am hesitating jumping on a app. Where's your head at about this?

Edit (4 days later)

I've been on Connect and has been 8/10 so far. Gonna dual use with liftoff after seeing the comments.

I did a 5 minute ctr+F to see which were the most popular apps/ interfaces. Not sorted by pos/neg, just mentions.

  • wefwef/ voyager - 46
  • connect - 43
  • Liftoff - 33
  • Jerboa - 23
  • Thunder - 16
  • Firefox - 13
  • Thunder - 16
  • Old.lemmy - 5
  • Alexandrite - 4
  • Vivaldi - 2

I have jerboa installed but it was buggy so I mostly use a browser (Vivaldi)

Currently using CONNECT on the phone and browser on PC. More or less exactly the way I used to browse reddit really

[-] PenguinMage@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

App, funny enough never been here on the pc.

[-] UnrealRealityX@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

web browser on desktop, but if synclemmy is going to be as hot as reddit syncreddit, then mobile usage will jump.

[-] Myrbolg@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Im using Alexandrite on desktop und Liftoff on mobile. Liftoff is great, I don't really miss much from the famous reddit apps.

Browser on on PC. On mobile, Connect or Lift-off; can't really tell the differences yet.

I'm not a smartphone guy. I use a browser version on my laptop.

Liftoff on Android and Memmy on IOS. I prefer Liftoff.

[-] TheInsane42@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Mostly liftoff (now), sometimes browser.

Waiting for Boost

Browser. So far I haven't found an app that is user friendly, allows me to switch accounts, and doesn't log me out every 30 minutes.

Firefox for android with Lemmy Universal Link Switcher + rss feeds through Feeder

[-] KuroJ@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Firefox when I'm at my PC, and when I'm relaxing I switch between Connect on Android or Memmy on my iPad.

[-] renrenPDX@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Desktop browser on PC or tablet with multiple Lemmy instances pinned. I get different flavors of lemmy based on subscription. Also wefwef.app and old.lemmy. iOS Mlem and Memmy apps on phone.

I was using Jerboa because i was used to Sync for reddit. But, I got a bit tired of hiw rough around the edges it is, so I switched to just installing my Lemmy instance fromt page as Firefox "app" on my phone and realized it's not that bad as a UI, so sticking with it for now.

I'll probably try apps again in the future but I feel more open to "installing" good web apps now. Incidentally I tried the same trick with Reddit's mobile interface after Sync stopped working and realized it's also not so awful as I remembered. I did prefer Sync but I'll see how it goes with this method. So it's mobile web interfaces on Android for me for now.

Having said that, in both cases I think I'd prefer a more "simple HTML" type experience like old reddit over these dynamic SPA things they both have going.

I just recently started using the app Thunder, but also old.lemmy.world as well. Feel almost at home until Sync is released.

Connect for the time being, its not bad at all, I'll feel a little bad leaving it for Sync

[-] Davidvanb@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Browser. Jerboa just wasn't working well for me anymore.

[-] Trapping5341@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Another vote for liftoff. Has been great for me since I installed it.

[-] Richard@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Primarily Memmy for iOS.

Voyager is nice too though on iOS. Connect on Android is nice also.

[-] SVM@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Browser. Waiting for Sync!

[-] zpm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Mobile browser, it's a bit clunky but waiting for Sync. I haven't been back to reddit more than a handful of times since before the blackout. Patiently waiting for Sync.

[-] Techie@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Voyager or Memmy on mobile. Regular Lemmy on desktop.

[-] SpeedLimit55@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I’m using wefwef on iPhone, nothing on my Android tablet yet. Waiting for Sync.

[-] BackStabbath@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Can't you just use wefwef on the tablet as well?

Kbin with PWA. Happy enough with that but interested to see what happens with the Artemis app as well
