DS9's wardrobe was somehow the 1990s in space.

I can start to believe in a centuries-long cycle when men start wearing capes in parties again.

Cloaks and capes need brought back into general fashion, dammit. And the normalization of kilts.

We need more "swoosh"-y clothing. It's one of the best parts of certain skirts and dresses, and needs to be set free so all can enjoy.

Been watching Foundation, REALLY into Day Empire’s pretty blue dress.

[-] Legendsofanus@startrek.website 3 points 1 year ago

Can you link a photo? And is the Foundation good? Have it in my watchlist

I like it, it’s not getting great reviews though. It is the kind of thing that makes you think, Maybe I should have read the book first? I think there are 11 books, including prequels that came later.

It’s visually stunning and I like the story. It’s surprisingly gender balanced for a book written in the 40s.

It’s hard to find a good pick of the dress, but this is the best I could do. It’s a Roman style breast plate with an empire (ha ha) waist full length dress, all in cobalt blue.

Nice. Thanks for the effort, it is indeed very pretty

I would kill for kilts to be normalized. And dresses for men in general. What's it gonna take for dresses to be manly, god damnit?

were they trying to look like Huxtable Station

[-] nomecks@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

The occupation put Bajor behind the fashion curve.

[-] PlasmaDistortion@lemm.ee 56 points 1 year ago

Let’s be honest, Garak was working a lot of overtime to outfit the people on that station.

[-] Ragnell@kbin.social 31 points 1 year ago

Garak being really good at buying cheap leftover fabrics and using them up just explains all the clothes on DS9.

[-] drbluefall@toast.ooo 8 points 1 year ago

Well a plain, simple man like Garak needs something to do with all his free time.

[-] mercano@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Garak? No, who do you think was threatening the costume designers?

[-] aeronmelon@lemm.ee 30 points 1 year ago

I honestly want to raid Jake Sisko and Riker's closets.

I also kind of wanna peek inside Yar's closet as well.

We all know you're pining for this number:

[-] Mostly_Gristle@lemmy.world 29 points 1 year ago

Fuck. I never noticed this outfit had a codpiece. Holy crap.

[-] NakariLexfortaine@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Everything but the pants.

Purple is not my color.

[-] alienzx@feddit.nl 16 points 1 year ago

Jake is just wearing a normal shirt from the early 90s

[-] Skaryon@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

It's just 90th fashion kinda

Nog: "Hey, Jake, the 2290's called. They want their shirts back."

[-] IHawkMike@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I want to watch this episode of The Great British Sewing Bee.

[-] M500@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Was Chief O’Brien the costume designer too?

[-] CodexArcanum@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

No lie, I'd rock that Ferangi fit right now! Regal, comfortable, a little daring; easy to see why Quark was in line for GN!

I would pay tens of złoty for that t-shirt.

[-] Captain_Ender@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

"Is my shirt asymmetrical enough?"
