Paying to remove ads is still paying them for implementing ads.

Obviously. I predicted this on Mastodon months ago when they started adding ads right in the middle of videos.

Piss people off and they'll pay to disable ads. There's nothing that competes with TikTok right now.

Charge people to go ad-free. Keep increasing the sub price over time, then provide a lower cost version with minimal ads.

Tiktok and YouTube are my only sources of entertainment. I'm okay paying for both.

Especially since both allow for anyone to upload as much as they want without limits or fees. Hosting that much data isn't cheap.

Obviously the FOSS users will downvote me, as they believe everything should be free and unlimited.

This is the most defeatist attitude I've ever seen

And Lemmy users think everything should be free, without ads, like bandwidth and storage are free.

But I'm glad being fine with paying for my entertainment is defeatist. Go back to your torrents, poor boy.

Agreed. Some people have this moronic attitude that everything comes for free.

Go back to your torrents, poor boy.

Lol, I thought we were going to have a serious discussion about the relative merits of advertising vs community servers with donations, turns out you're just an elitist cunt. Probably my mistake for not seeing the "TikTok and YouTube are my only sources of entertainment" red flag!

How is it a red flag to view content on two of the biggest websites?

You're a 🤡

The fact that they're your whole life is the problem. You'll understand when you grow up.

Lemmy is great at making their own shit up.

Where did I say that's my whole life? You're insane.
