#PhotoOfTheDay is another shot of Sword Lake in the Carson-Iceberg Wildness in the California Sierra. The highlights are kind of blown out because of the tiny point-and-shoot camera I was using back then on that backpacking trip... I hope it stirs your heart on this Valentine's Day!

@croyle@wandering.shop I haven't been there since around 1971 or 2...when I fell asleep floating on an air mattress for 5 hours without sunscreen. I hiked out in my underwear because I couldn't get trousers on over the blisters. Still have blotchy skin. Not a high point in my "use your brains" history.

Incredibly beautiful place!

@W6KME@mastodon.radio Haha, although I sympathize! We used our sleeping pads in the lake, but they weren't enough to let anyone sleep on them - thankfully!... On my first trip to Hawaii I fell asleep on a Maui beach and got fried on three sides. For the rest of that week at night I had to sleep only on the unburned (right) side because the others hurt too much! Another dumb lesson learned...

@croyle@wandering.shop this reminds me of the lake where my family were lucky to have a cottage, when we were young. The reflection makes me nostalgic.

@skatem@mstdn.social My grandparents had a lakeside cabin when I was little. It wasn't quite as scenic but I always loved it... Sounds like you have great memories too!

@croyle@wandering.shop nice! Nice! Yes, lots of great memories. My mom always loved the sound of the wind in the tall pine trees, me too.
