I have no idea about any of this or even where this school is but now you have me interested in your story. Keep posting.

Haha, thank you! I didn't really expect anyone to even read it, but I wanted to document for myself to hold myself accountable.
Actually, the school is a very recent online university based in Utah. I really like its super inexpensive model and love its mission to make education affordable for everyone. I grew up poor, had a kid when I was a teen, never got to finish college. Found this one, enrolled, and it's been really great.
Hardly anyone has heard of the college though, so I figured I'd yell into the void—since no one else will.
The real kicker? I’m a 55-year-old retired guy who decided I’m gonna be a college athlete. I always thought it would be cool to be a college rower, so fuck it, I decided to be a college rower.
There are national and international indoor rowing competitions, so I entered myself—and my school—into one.
So yeah, I’m on my college’s rowing team. (Okay, I’m the only team member... and I started the team!) But I’m training for competitive times. I looked at the times other colleges are hitting, and that’s my goal.
I'm hoping that as I meet other students in forums and stuff, that maybe a few will jump in with me, since it's indoor rowing. But if not, then it'll just be me, and that's ok too.
So I’m officially a college athlete, baaabby!!
Sometimes if there ain't a path for ya, you just gotta make your own.
Nice. That's cool. I'm an old guy too at 50. You giv'er. Never too late.
Wow, a rare breed here on Lemmy. Most here seem to be in late 20's early 30's. So good to see our age group represented!
No kidding I keep telling all the little shits to get off my lawn but they just laugh and call me grumpy.
I promoted your little thing here on community promo. I hope you don't mind. I think it's cool what you're up to and people would be interested to follow along.
Oh wow, that's awesome. Thank you!
I didn't read it
