Do you ever wish that you could block all ads on YouTube because Google is a pressure target for the BDS movement? Or maybe you just hate ads?

To block ads on YouTube:

  1. Install Firefox

  2. Install uBlock Origin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

  3. (Android) Set Firefox to ask before opening links in apps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/set-firefox-android-open-links-native-apps

:lovepalestine:

I wish more leftist creators would migrate to alternative platforms.

Bonus: this blocks ads on all websites browsed in Firefox, not just YouTube.

Extra bonus for Android users: allow videos to play in the background: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/android/addon/video-background-play-fix/

On Android, there's also NewPipe or Tubular

What are some good alternative platforms to youtube?

[–] moody 2 points 2 days ago

Depends what you consider good, really. There are "alternatives," but none of them have much content. People post on youtube because that's where the content viewers are already. Also hosting video content is expensive.

Is there an equivalent way to search peertube videos?

It seems like content there is not comparable to youtube (which, I mean - of course). I guess we just need more content creators to move to peertube?

@dandelion

They have "SepiaSearch": https://joinpeertube.org/browse-content

I honestly don't know a lot about PeerTube but setting up an instance at some point is definitely on my radar.
