This question can only come from the United States: those who lives elsewhere and enjoy a working social security system knows exactly why it's great, and those who don't know exactly why they want it.

But somehow, inexplicably, in the richest nation on Earth, social security is constantly in question, and the powers that be feel compelled to defend it.

The United States is the greatest and the dumbest country on the planet at the same time. The mind boggles.

because it fucking works, it's an investment in your country, they yield some of the best returns public money can achieve
