I get this a lot, just randomly losing half an hour because I'm zoning out. Maybe it's just a lack of sleep

Fucking hate when that happens when I just got home from work. I'm trying to enjoy what little free time I have, and instead I get stuck standing in place and staring at nothing while I disassociate.

Dude decompression is undervalued in our society.

It's just crazy to me how we are always doing things that distract us from the void. You need to run towards it, it's good for your mind.

Hell ya, I wish I could just watch paint dry...

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I mean I have psychedelics for that.

Then people do not believe you when you tell them you meditate.. ;)

NGL though sitting under a tree and watching the clouds drift by in this state is pretty nice

It's like I shift into a different gear.

The chaos in my head falls silent.

The cool of the shade I'm sitting in, the whisper of the wind in the grass and leaves, the chill of the grass on my skin and the soft caress of the wind in my hair, the soft smells of earth and damp moss, the sight of the clouds twisting upon themselves.

The clouds dancing to the sounds of the wind.

It's a moment of peace before something pulls me back.

Always felt to me like I have one foot in this world, and the rest of my whole being in the liminal space. Or like I'm watching the real world through a partially open door, but I'm quite a distance away from that door (down the hall).

Yes! This is it! Like , reality is right there but not quite. I feel you.

This is me most nights before bed; except my head is in my hands.

[–] Charlxmagne@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That doesn't sound like its cuz of the adhd 😔

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Yeah that one’s on me. I didn’t look at the community before posting my comment (a very adhd thing to do 😅).

Hey friend, what's going on? Anything we can help you with?

[–] superweeniehutjrs@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago (2 children)

My parents say I'd basically do this while putting on my shoes in the morning before school.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 days ago

My parents always called me a dawdler.

There was always just a lot going on to think about, or I could be not thinking at all.

Several times a month this will happen after lacing one shoe but before lacing the other. I'll stand up, look down at my feet and just shake my head.

Sometimes I get up early to be extra-on time but then I'm late because of this. I think it's a part of my non-dominant lobe just taking over and saying fuck you and your rat-race to the rest of my brain.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is why I listen to music when getting ready. It's the only way I can tell time is passing.

"That was a good album."

"...shit."
