I was using a nice firefighter duck named Cleo, but he was underperforming so he had to be let go. Now I have Rufus:

I was afraid a mouse wouldn't be able to do a duck's job, but he threatened to sue so I had to give him a shot. Glad I did, he's proven as capable as any duck I've known.

I recently started using breathing exercises for the first time in a few years when I'm feeling anxious, and they've been helping a lot. I hadn't quite realized how big of a difference actually going by time could make as opposed to just generally trying to slow my breathing - if you've never tried it I'd highly recommend it.

I'm having trouble finding the pattern(s) that work best, though. It seems to vary so much; one day one will feel claustrophobically slow and another day it's anxiety-inducingly fast, kinda defeating the purpose. But I don't want to abandon timing it altogether when my gut is apparently pretty bad at figuring out what is the right pace.

Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but I'd love to hear your opinions and experiences. Also, do you use any other physical strategies, like belly breathing?

Wow, this seems really useful! What a neat feature.

Yes, in the same way a tomato is a fruit.

There's some further correspondence in the linked post, and yeah that's basically what it boiled down to. What a strange world. I can't believe that's a real law.

So blahaj.zone defederated a whole instance because one community on lemmynsfw has pictures of (verified) adults that don't look adult enough? That seems... extreme, and rather insulting to the women whose bodies/appearances are supposedly too close to actual children to be worthy of attraction. Glad that's not my instance, though to each their own.

Funny this comes up, I just made jerky at home for the first time a couple days ago. Much cheaper and very tasty. Easier than I was expecting too.

They're about as good as you could expect from a major cloud storage provider. In theory the encryption means that Mega can't access your files, but they're expressly very cooperative with government agencies so don't bet on anything you put there being entirely secure. I haven't heard of any major problems with them though - it's what I've been using for cloud storage the past few years and I haven't had an issue. As long as files aren't shared and therefor at risk of being reported there's not much to worry about, though in the case of things getting reported it's a 'take down first, ask questions later' type deal.

Here's a transparency report from them (how much to trust it is up to you): https://blog.mega.io/mega-transparency-report-2021/

Super Mario World! It holds up remarkably well even by modern platformer standards. It feels great, looks great, and is a blast to explore.

This is very good to hear. I don't see the issues with Godot they do but I'm glad they were open to resolving this in a way that doesn't just hurt the community.

To be clear, you need it to cost more than $400?

This doesn't really seem like the right community to post this. Maybe try a news community, like !news@lemmy.world? (I think I linked that right)

I think having some text should be required. Maybe start out with required body text but link posts still allowed, then if there are still issues with low effort posts change to links in body text only.
