Refurbished ones are just as good as fresh ones, and basically always "on sale" since their price is reduced.

Valve seems to be moving towards a very likely Steam Deck Refresh. Very little is known about when or how this will happen. Based on previous comments and data-mining, the refresh will have the exact same amount of gaming-power. It may, however, have a better WiFi-chip, better screen, and stuff like that. Nothing is certain and if you want a Deck soon-ish, I wouldn’t recommend waiting for this.
Last I checked, his audience was those self-proclaimed "intellectuals". The kind of atheists who define their identity by dunking on religious people, and the kind of mediocre people who feel superior by laughing others.
People who look at cherry-picked and out-of-context examples of progressivism and then dismiss the entirety as anti-science wokeness. People who cherry-pick scientific beliefs (without deeper research) in the same way most religious people cherry-pick passages from their holy text. Take the (out-of-context) quotes that reaffirm what you already belief in, ignore the rest, and most importantly: Declare that your "truth" is superior to others.
Apparently, you’re getting both HDR and VRR on the current Steam Deck soon. Currently, in the Preview version, soon-ish in stable.

That is unrelated to normal straw usage, though. They can at any time declare that they need "medical straws", define that only certified companies can provide them, and then demand hundreds of Dollars for them. I would not be surprised if this was already happening somewhere.
Really depends on distro/use case/luck. I’ve had quite a few years without any issues, more with minimal and very rare irritations. The day-to-day experience continues is pleasant.
The few months have been somewhat more frustrating for me, and once I have a bit more leisure time I’ll switch distro to something that hopefully works better for me.
It lets the battery discharge to 90% while plugged in. If you’re not using it for a few days you should still unplug.
Kbin user here. It does not federate downvotes from lemmy. So far, I have a total of two (2) downvotes and every single interaction, including the one I got downvoted for, was quite positive.
No toxicity in normal interactions so far. The only (slightly) toxic comment sections were regarding meta topics of users complaining about toxicity elsewhere and/or wanting to defederate more communities. Even those discussions were nearly entirely polite and productive.
The only somwhat toxic topic I participated in was when one car-enthusiast complained about the fuckcars community and got called out throughout the comment section. Piling on like that was probably not the best way and they deleted their post some time after.
Personally, sitting in a seat with plenty of room and casually watching videos, browsing kbin, or eating some food is a strictly superior experience to the constant vigilance of city traffic while not being allowed to move from my place.
Sadly, the majority of AI-generated art on some bigger websites is of prepubescent children. Of those, far too many go for the photorealism style.
Usually, I’d say people should just enjoy whichever art they want. With how close we are to being indistinguishable to actual photos, though, this raises some severe ethical concerns, in my opinion. I’m just waiting for a headline about some child trafficking rings mixing real photos into "art" or using the defence that those are definitely just generated images.
Consistency is not quite there, yet. It’s far too close for comfort, anyway. I consider the above headline to be inevitable at this point, and that is depressing.
Took me a moment. It really remains a timeless meme.
I’ve had issues since kernel 6.4. Since early December, one pair of Bluetooth headphones works again (mostly, with occasional connection issues), but the AirPods still fail to pair at all.
