What worked for me was to stop seeing friends that smoked and to go for a run every time I felt like getting a cigarette, instead of getting the cigarette.

So my company is investigating whether it's worth it to use ThreatDown (the corporate version of Malwarebytes) for endpoint-protection.

However, recently (October 9th) a critical vulnerability in Firefox was reported by Mozilla: CVE-2024-9680.

The "strange" thing is that there was no mention of this vulnerability in ThreatDown when I checked after the weekend (October 14th):

(screenshot shows issues that ThreatDown did find, sorted from worst to least bad.

Even though the version of Firefox did contain the vulnerability:

And Locize did run several scans on this endpoint in the mean time:

We contacted ThreatDown about this and the next day the vulnerability suddenly shows up in ThreatDown:

To me it feels like we had to notify ThreatDown about the vulnerability, instead of them notifying us, which is the exact opposite of what we are paying them for, right?

Is this a strange conclusion? What is your experience with them? Any other comments/ideas/things we are missing?

America's system is a problem.

Stupid discussion. It does not matter whether something is in the box "vegan". Ask yourself why you would or would not eat something. If you don't want to eat(/drink) dairy because of the way the animals that produce the dairy are treated, would you be ok when they are treated differently? Are bees treated in the same way? Does it matter if you treat them in this way? Those should be your questions, not "does it belong in this box?".

A fact of life... when living in America. Third world country that doesn't tell its inhabitants.

People like to read those stories because it gives them hope it also happens to them. Media print stories that you want to read, that's how they make money.

Other stories people like to read: how to world is going to shit (evolutionairy important to prepare to survive), what someone that's familiar to you did (evolutionary important to be social to work together to survive), stories about how someone else did something stupid (complaining about that toghether gives yoh a sense of belonging) and stories about how a pet cat was retrieved (tickling that instinct to care for others again).

As you can see, media is looking for stories that tickle your most basic insticts and needs, because they know that's what you will be interested in, making you read their stories so they can make more money.

Welcome to capitalism, you are the product.

Git, by Linus? Maybe even linux itself? Ok actually Linus might just be Steve Wozniak without an annoying Steve Jobs guy next to him, while actually being a lot bigger than Apple maybe?

Let this be my warning to Google that I will never go back to their browser when they do. Challas! ✌️

I just got a PS3 because I never had enough money for it when I was younger and it is quite affordable nowadays. I started playing a first few games, but I noticed I really like multiplayer games the most.

However, I only found a few people in a Battlefield 4 server yesterday. What other games would you suggest me getting that I can still play online?

Is there any football game that's still alive for instance?

Or move to a country that has a police force where officers are properly trained and monitored.
