The gulf monarchies' oil will dry up, and they will collapse under their own weight.

... Probably not. But hey, a man can dream...

Pretty much. I'm waiting till my life really starts, which is (i consider, at least) in four years. By then i'd have emigrated so i can get on with everything.

Life is incredibly dull for me, not necessarily sure what to do with myself.

I don't have much advice sadly, but if it makes you feel better you aren't alone. I think oka's advice is pretty good, be sure to try that

That looks like a pain to adjust each time the oranges slip...

Pretty keyboard though!

I'm willing to start one, but since i don't like disclosing personal information it probably won't (cant) be kickstarted by me.

Interesting community you have. I have added it to the sidebar

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 hours ago

I was talking about the french and british, though?

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 hours ago

? I think you misunderstood me. I know, the british and french have caused way more damage than the US has caused here. By the US's faults specifically, i was talking about it caving into fascism (arguably has been rotting for a long time, just finally shown face) and europeans getting away from it. And since the US is a global power, they overrelied on it. Their solution? Just be their another global power, surely nothing bad will happen.

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 hours ago

Thanks. It feels like every interaction with europeans i have about this is "well these countries are necessary for us! They're strategic allies and better than XYZ (usually russia or china)" while ignoring the people who have to suffer the consequences. Out of sight, out of mind...

It's refreshing to hear at least some people care about us.

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Absolutely. The british and french are absolutely to blame. They destroyed the entire middle east, and made us all suffer for their own convenience. Also, the Sykes-picot agreement.

(now there are four other arabs than me that i know on lemmy :DDD)

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 12 hours ago

So do i, but i miss hobby and niche content on lemmy. The posts/communities that get the most activity are news and politics (even in unrelated communities)

I think both have a good place on lemmy, but i just want people to keep everything in its place.

[–] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 12 hours ago (6 children)

Yeah, i know ☹️ Life's unfair. While the idea of one incredibly powerful union scares me (see what they did in the middle east) the other countries are always going to fuck up the balance.

WARNING! This Guide is not finished yet! the ultimate goal is for a fully comprehensive guide for latin, and we're far from that, currently!

If you have any recommendations and suggestions, comment them, please.

Salvete Omnes!

I want to share some sources for learning Latin, because in Anno Domini, there is absolutely no excuse for not knowing at least "Roma in Italia est" >:(

Tips

  • When reading a word, don't think of the equivalent of it in your language; either imagine an image of it, or compose it out of smaller Latin words. So when you hear pluvia in latin, imagine rain, not the word itself.

    pluvia -> rain -> 🌧️? non!

    pluvia -> 🌧️ <- rain? sic!

  • Patience. Latin takes a long time to learn, and for some it is easy if they are speaking a romance language, and harder for some if not. Take your time digesting information, even if it takes days to analyze a single page.

  • Don't feel afraid to use Latin. Language proficiency requires reading and writing; write about your day in Latin, or translate something that you enjoy. If you can't find good Latin vocab to refer to modern concepts, it's fine to borrow something on the spot, or reuse some old word.

  • You'll hear horror stories that say that "three is death", about the third declension and third conjugation. Don't pay too much attention to those stories; instead make sure that you have a good grasp on how nouns and verbs work, before hitting those two, then it's all about memorisation of a bunch of patterns.

  • A very small tip, but might help: V in latin = U, they are the same. If you read PLVVIA or PLUUIA, it means Pluvia. However, the canonical pronounciation would be "plu-wia"

Title: Too many nicoleposters on lemmy.

Seriously. I keep getting reports (admin) of her DMs but i never see anything actually harmful on her messages. A matrix room [full of racists :/] A discord room, basically full of shitposters. And both of these have an admin, just completely inactive. I will try to DM her directly, and visit the other links.

Who is the woman in the picture? Certainly not "nicole" that we know. Might it be a harassment campaign against her?

I've noticed a huge wave of spam, with a lot of motifs in applications too. Is this all related? Is this a huge conspiracy or am i looknig too deep in nicole???
