Sound depends on whether you value low noise. And not sure about tactile feeling, but ngl, the feeling of drivint an ICE car is awful after switching to EVs. The instant acceleration and responsiveness is just great.

My point is that you can't compare a platform like reddit to a protocol like email.

While gmail and outlook are insanely big, how much of all email traffic do they handle? Sure, they are insanely big, but I doubt they are above 50%

On the other hand, how big is reddit compared to all other link aggregators? I think it's pretty surely far above 50%.

Or how big is YouTube as a VOD platform?

I'm not advocating for discuit, but being like "they think federation can't build a mainstream platform, but look at email" is kind of missing the point.

Also email is the only example for federation. It's an outlier, mainly because it was one of the first things on the net. Everything else is platforms, unfortunately.

I read it, and while it's something different, it was more confusing than anything else. Definitely something I never read before though.

Lmao. Just because I disagree with you? ^^

Are most of your services just a single pod? Or do you actually have them scaled? How do you then handle non-cloud-native software?

While I'd absolutely love it, reddit is not going anywhere for a while.

The difference is that it doesn't need everyone to agree on one thing to make changes. "Boycott coke" requires a substantial mass to boycott one specific company. Demanding change from politics is much more broad and targets whole industries instead of specific things. Like bans on single use plastic, or pushes for EVs.

Apart from that, you most often have to create alternatives before people can abandon bad products. Could everyone stop using cars? Sure. Will it happen? No. But if we start to expand railway through politics, will more people abandon their car then cause they get around by train much more efficiently? Way more likely than without it.

I recommend Kurzgesagts video on the topic whether we can stop climate change. It goes exactly into this.

And who would do it? Would the people be forced to do it or would those that want to become part of the militia be able to apply?

Ist die Marke des Hobels und der Klingen sonderlich wichtig? Habe beides von Wilkonsin Sword, aber bekomme jedesmal furchtbaren Rasurbrand. Keine Ahnung was ich falsch mache. Mit gaaanz wenig druck hab ichs auch schon probiert, aber zieht einfach doch jedes Mal. Das Problem hab ich bei dem typischen Gilette System einfach nicht.
