My father and stepmother were full tilt into this quackery. Today they don't talk about it as much, but they do talk about politics an awful lot. I'll let you figure out where they fall on the political spectrum.

I actually like Apple’s approach to AI more than all of the others. I don’t care for Microsoft’s implementation at all. I just try to avoid Microsoft in general on top of that, so no need to complain about it.

But I do think Apple’s approach to AI from a privacy and implementation perspective is what I would prefer from a software vendor.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. I am so confused. Do I upvote or downvote?

Absolutely same. I hate having them in my house, supporting them, and dealing with them when they shit the bed because they're too underpowered to run a fucking web browser. School systems need to stop buying these goddamn things and stop caving to slimy salespeople selling Chrome plugins for schoolwork.

You're not missing anything. It's rife with scammers.

Good luck finding talent who wants to work for Elon Musk

I'm GenX, and I spent about ~25 years in the corporate racket before I realized that they don't give a fuck. I'm all about living now as well, and I encourage others to do the same.

Sadly, it is a trend.

Teams won't even open on Safari. Must use a chrome-based browser (like... Edge!)

This, and also so they can avoid your plugins that kill browser tracking for ads and shit.

A few months ago I was suddenly craving a pan pizza... out of nowhere. In the 80's, Pizza Hut pan pizza was the shit. I was pining for the nostalgia, I suppose.

The pizza was got was awful. Truly horrible. Pizza Hut is dead to me.

I'm still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don't trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What's the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?

Edit: I meant to also express my frustration that most browsers do not let you select a "default search engine" that can be used in the address bar aside from 3-5 pre-chosen engines. Seems like 2023 we should be able to customize that to our own liking.

Edit 2: Thanks for the recommendation of Kagi. I'm going to roll with it for a while. I see they have an extension for Safari that allows them to hijack the address bar, which is just what I needed.

You can parent your children all day long and everything is just fine at home. As soon as your kids are unleashed into the world of school, it's anything goes. Your child is immediately subjected to all the poor and awful parenting that is outside your control. The only thing you can do is give them skills to navigate those situations. Sounds like @sunbeam60@lemmy.one did just that. Bravo.
