I can't tell if it is finished or not, but it looks like it will hold shoes or boots. If that's the plan, then you'll definitely want some sort of protection on it. Even a coat of fast drying polyurethane will help it last longer and be easier to clean.
You might also throw on a face frame, which would help prevent the front edge from sagging over time.
It is not finished currently. I don't know anything about finishes so that was going to be a "if I get to it" problem x.x
A front edge could be good I've never made anything like that. I might skip that on this particular one but I have another shelf build coming up I think that would be a great idea!
