Not true for tight small city yards.

I would need a layer of mulch deeper than any of my in ground plants could handle.

[-] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 0 points 13 hours ago

I have exactly that, a 1” layer of straw mulch protected my raised garden beds. You can also use biodegradable “plastic” mulch too.

You don’t need raised beds to mulch them?

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 0 points 11 hours ago

But then the mulch won't stop the weeds unless I do it deep enough to hurt my plants. I don't understand why you are so adamant that works for you with a completely different setup is so important for me to do.

That’s…. Not how mulch works. Raised beds do nothing to prevent unwanted plants. Not all of my yard is in raised planters either, I was only sharing some extra information to try and have a convo.

Sorry, you didn’t seem to understand how “weeds” spread nor how to protect your yard from them, so I thought I would share some knowledge.

But apparently you just want to yell that your neighbor has “weeds”.

Anyways, there’s more benefits to mulch than just weed suppression, so you should be doing it regardless.

I don't understand why you are so adamant that works for you with a completely different setup is so important for me to do.

Dude, you’re the one bitching about their neighbour having weeds, you understand the only reason why you would also have weeds is because you’re lazy and neglecting your yard… yeah? I was trying to have a nice conversation and share some knowledge, but you just want to be miserable dick and blame someone else for not wanting to do yard work.

Mulch your damn yard and don’t complain that your neighbor has weeds, what’s a weed to you isn’t to them, as the user you were talking to was also saying.

Thistle is a weed.
You are a jerk.

And I had no interest in talking to you. You just barged in to tell me all the ways I'm wrong in a situation you don't know.

You are a jerk.

[-] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

You posted on a public forum, people are going to engage your comments, I tried to, you argued for some strange reason, now we are here.

I only became hostile because you were originally a jerk dude.

Dont want to have a conversation on a public forum, than don’t fucking comment? You’re only being a jerk because the advice was basically “take care of your yard” and “leave your neighbors alone”.

Yeah the truth fucking hurts to hear sometimes dude, don’t need to be a bitter fucking dick about it. Didn’t want to talk, than don’t fucking respond you jerk.

Also, thistle has medicinal uses, so yeah people grow it and therefore it’s not a weed.

What do you think a weed is? It’s an undesirable plant, as explained already, what’s desirable is different to each person, so fuck off about your neighbours shit and deal with yours lmfao.

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 0 points 6 hours ago

No I just didn't appreciate everything you said. I just didn't respond how you wanted after 2 replies and went to being a jerk.

Don't blame others for being rude to them.

Take your own advice dude.

Mulch prevents weeds, don’t get pissy because you don’t like the solution and complain about how your neighbors yard looks.

I wonder what they think of your dry empty dust making yard(?

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 0 points 2 hours ago

I bet you are taking it so seriously cause you let weeds grow in your yard and want to think of yourself better for doing it and me having any kind of issues you take personally cause you act like it's your yard being insulted. What a self indulgent fantasy you have.

It's not about you and you aren't the hero for being a jerk to others.

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 0 points 2 hours ago

Wait how is my yard dry and dusty and also full of weeds?

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 0 points 2 hours ago

You seem to be taking this a level of personal that isn't about you.

They were 6 feet tall and they literally called professionalls to help clear it out. I am renting and won't pay for that much mulch for a place I won't live in for many more years and the weeds are already established and even where I put mulch they come up.

Happy now? I explain everything to your liking so you will stop fucking bullying people for your own self righteousness?

What the hell? Like why so fricking antagonistic and then acting like the holy roller? Don't see how you are literally being a jerk?

[-] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 0 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

What’s in your neighbors yard is irrelevant dude.

And yeah, if you want a yard, even if renting, it requires money, time and effort.

And there’s ways to deal with established weeds.

All I hear is someone whinging about renting a house that has a yard because it requires work.

You didn’t need to explain anything dude, I was trying to give you a solution to your problem, but your solution is to whine and make other people fix it for you. If you wanted to have a conversation I would have loved to hear your specific issue and maybe give you specific advice. But you’re just a miserable fucking cunt mate.

I wasnt until you got hostile dude, look in the mirror.
