Outgoing President Joe Biden on Monday moved to permanently ban offshore oil and gas drilling across more than 625 million acres of U.S. coastal territory, protecting swaths of the East Coast, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific, and Alaska's Northern Bering Sea from fossil fuel exploitation just before President-elect Donald Trump is set to retake power.

How is it permanent? Trump's probably just going to completely undo it and no one will say a damn word.

This is more permanent than it could be...instead of being able to be undone via executive order, it would take an incredibly rare and twisted court ruling or an act of Congress. Neither is that unlikely, however repealing it won't be unilateral, and that means it'll take time and political capital.

They aren’t going to play by the rules, the justice system already proved that republicans can break the law and not face consequences.
