still used in general aviation.

It has taken longer, but that is being phased out as well. Scott Manley recently made a good video on the subject:

I'm quite aware, one benefit of being a light sport instructor is most of the LSA industry uses Rotax 912 engines which can run on regular and/or premium MOGAS depending on the specific model.
