This is one of the few people we all need to pay attention to. Tim Berners-Lee is one of the good ones.

In what way?

I'm not disputing that he's a nice guy, but "modern social is fucked" doesn't exactly require genius level thinking.

His contribution was notable in the 80s or whatever but IDK how relevant he is in 2025.

Web proposal stuff wasn't even done until 90, so it's a little more recent than it feels. Not much, granted.

www server was a few years later.

W3c, wwwf etc over the 90s-10s had their problems but the need for at least something existed. He's been putting efforts.

Been a vocal and active supporter for protections like net neutrality.

Yes, I disagree with his views about drm and think he should say and do more and better there. But at least his reasons are clear and there was at least some push back.

The past decade he's be quieter, but he's also getting older. It may be in vain, but I am hoping this is just a first step back into pushing for something... anything better.
