Not sure if this is against the rules or not

The IPs of all janitors and admins have been leaked

4chan's entire tech stack is built of outdated and insecure myPHP

Not sure where the source code is from but I think it's the forum that did all of this in the first place

Bullshit. Russia was certainly not targeting 4chan. If any russian agent was trying to push propaganda, he'd probably be drowned in "piss off faggot" responses lmao. Why would they even try to target a platform where 95% of the people are just shitposting as if their lives depended on it and 5% are mentally ill.

Not everything you don't like is russian propaganda.

You seem not to be aware that shitposting is the easiest way to spread disinformation.

[–] Realitaetsverlust@lemmy.zip -2 points 5 days ago

It really isn't. Because nobody takes it serious. That's the entire point. People don't shitpost to humorously critique social norms, they do it for the fun.

The only people who do take it serious are some normies that by accident see a 4chan meme on 9gag.

4chan is a hub for misinformation and conspiracies. Its full of racist, misogynistic, and overall hateful content. That content is not moderated at all how you think it is. It is a breeding ground of hate.

[–] PanArab@lemm.ee 2 points 5 days ago

But that hate is native to the US/West, it is not a Russian plot. How do you think the Trail of Tears and Tasmanian Genocides happened? Instigated by Russian bots?

[–] Realitaetsverlust@lemmy.zip -3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Disagree mostly - while there are those boards, like /pol/ or /b/, there's also normal boards with ... I wouldn't say "normal" people, but relatively speaking, sane people.

That content is not moderated at all how you think it is

4chan is barely moderated.

It is a breeding ground of hate.

Overall, I saw a lot more hate on reddit than on 4chan. But mostly because I'm not a /pol/ user.

You forgot to list like eight other boards that have the most racist, the most sexist, the most rape promoting incels of all time

Reddit doesn't compare at all

[–] Realitaetsverlust@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Idk, there were a lot of subreddits spewing hate, and they were online for years before public pressure mounted and they shut it down. Hell, we had shit like "abuseporn" which was online for over 4 years until it was randomly found by a journalist and then shut down lmao.

Youll never change my mind that the content on reddit was ever more cruel or unmoderated. And 4chan has been around MUCH longer than reddit.

[–] Realitaetsverlust@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Unmoderated? No. Cruel? Yes.

I've been quite active on both platforms for over a decade. Reddit has definitely more cruel content and more cruel people.

[–] 9tr6gyp3@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Ive been active on both as well, but 4chan is more cruel. Agree to disagree. There is a reason cheese pizza is a term on 4chan. If thats not worse in your book, then ig you and I have different viewpoints of the world.

[–] steeznson@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (2 children)

This the same reddit that hosted /r/jailbait for almost a decade?

[–] 9tr6gyp3@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Yes, that reddit

Sure, there are a lot of naughty opinions on 4Chan. But at the end of the day, people more or less accepted other opinions. This doesn't compare to the absolutely insane range people on subreddits like PoliticalHumor show when they encounter different positions.
