MODERATORS

These will be a series of informal (for now) posts about the current state of Revolt as compared to Discord. As things stand, Revolt is probably the best replacement for Discord, however, a number of features have not yet been implemented.

This lack of particular features may prevent certain users and groups (myself included) from fully transitioning over to Revolt. The hope is that some day soon Revolt has enough feature parity to make the switch from Discord and easy choice.

Missing Features

List is incomplete because I have only just started using Revolt myself.

  • Video chat
  • Voice chat on Android (iOS works I believe)
  • Screen sharing
  • Category and synced permissions
  • Mic noise suppression
  • Safety settings (who can message and friend you)
  • Server verification levels (email or phone verification)

Minor features (need to confirm some)

  • Server folders
  • Ephemeral (private responses to commands)
  • Embedded polls
  • A few formatting methods
  • Stickers
  • /Commands
  • Soundboard
  • Invite limits
  • Channel following
  • Apps
  • Inactive voice channel
  • Community servers
  • Onboarding
  • Server insights
  • Server templates
  • TikTok integration
  • Removing embeds
  • Microphone test
  • Mic volume adjustment
  • Profile connections (Twitch, Steam, etc.)
  • Private profile notes
  • Notification History

I took a look at Spacebar and it is quite interesting. It seems promising, but looks to be quite a ways away from replacing discord. The lack of an app yet sucks too.

I'll keep it on my radar.
