I'm curious about whether you guys are reading any book or have found any resource about managing a coop, why they fail etc

I'm mostly thinking of worker coops or mixed worker/consumer coops

No problem! I just had a worker coop near me go under and they had a lot of trouble contacting old members about equity. So rigorous record keeping is probably one key factor. There is also a really amazing documentary about the grocery consumer coops in the twin cities. I believe it's called Co-op Wars, I think it's on PBS. It documents many of the difficulties of starting coops and there are probably some good lessons to be learned in there. There is also Living the Revolution about housing coops in Madison WI. Also many good community lessons in there. It's only found on youtube as far as I can tell.
