Ukraine has launched a “large-scale” drone attack against Russian military bombers in Siberia, striking more than 40 warplanes thousands of kilometres from its own territory, a security official said.

The claims could not be independently verified. But if confirmed, the attacks would mark Ukraine’s most damaging drone strike of the war to date, amid an escalation in cross-border incursions before planned peace talks in Istanbul on Monday.

“Ukrainian security services are carrying out a large-scale special operation aimed at destroying enemy bombers far from the front, in Russia,” the official was quoted by Agence France-Presse as saying, adding a fire had broken out at the targeted Belaya airbase.

And when Russia inevitably retaliates we'll be reading headlines about unprovoked escalation by Russia.

Russia's been bombing Ukrainian schools and hospitals, if Russia does retaliate I don't think a drone attack on war planes is sufficient to call it "provoked".

If you want to look at what bombing schools and hospitals actually looks like then look no further than Gaza and the genocide western regimes are openly supporting.

Why does everyone on this platform assume that just because I'm pro-Ukraine, I must automatically be pro-Israel (rhetorical question). I'm against any country trying to do a land grab at the cost of human lives.

And whataboutism with Israel doesn't make Russia bombing schools and hospitals any better. Neither does Ukraine using them to house military equipment and personell.

People just assume a bit of consistency from you fascists.

I said it was rhetorical. I know the reason is because a lot of people here view the world in pro-America and anti-America with latter being "pure good" and the former "pure evil".

I wonder what your opinion is on Afghanistan.

My opinion on Afghanistan is that it was a successful socialist country before the US destroyed it and brutalized its people ever since.
