Alt textThis is not autobiographical because in the real version there is no strawberry.

Funny enough, strawberries are one of the easiest things I've ever grown. I do nothing to take care of them except sling a little fertilizer when I feed everything else.

They've been buried in 4-foot weeds, 10-inches of snow (in Florida!), utterly neglected. They spread all by themselves, and boy do they. This year I nearly wiped them out by letting weeds choke them so I dug up what I could find, potted 'em, ready to plant now that they're more robust.

A couple of my last year's strawberry plants continued on growing this spring after being frozen in the ground for 5-6 months.

One year I grew strawberries in a hanging pot and after that the lawn below has sprouted strawberry plants every spring.

It seems like they only start being hard to grow if you try to care for them.
