Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

Whether it be a particularly annoying mechanic, bad design, poorly optimised... What are some of the worst soulslikes you've played? And what makes them so bad?

Mortal Shell.

Because no matter what version I've played, I would get an issue with the enemies only rendering when you're pretty much on top of them.

Kinda hard to fight shit you can't even see.

Gonna have to go with this as well.

Game was ass. Way too many bugs as well as the controls being too stiff and janky as fuck.

Jesus, that's horrible. But it has to be a rig-issue then, some kind of incompatibility, right? Since the game seems to run ok with most people, I'd wager

It happens in the PlayStation release, on a PS5 too. Found some threads about it suggesting that the DLC fixed it.

It did not.

Oh well, guess I won't be playing then.

Looking forward to giving Lords of the Fallen a try when I get around to it - you've convinced me in one of your previous comments here :)

Doesn't happen on any version of pc. Mortal Shell is okay, some cool concepts, and very decent combat, but nothing too amazing. But it's also a 12h game. I'd definitely give it a try if you have a pc and can get it for cheap (or free, considering Epic gave it away like 5 times).
