everyone's running boilerplate POS software it because it's a cheap low-effort way to get set up, and it has a tip option built in because it's usually for restaurants. same as how the EULA for your favorite video game is literally copy-pasted without a thought just so it has one. literally nobody cares if you click "no tip" at the local boutique.
