Why, though? Just looking at the number of places this was cross-posted to it's clear that there are already too many trans-related comms that fracture what little user base Lemmy has anyway to the point where very few posts get any activity at all. And looking at the sidebar for this new comm, it appears that it's purpose could have been completely fulfilled by several other existing comms instead of splitting yet again.
I am starting to think that we should be looking to merge comms and build a larger community in one place, and then decide that certain topics need their own space. This feels like a solution in search of a problem, to me.
Actually your latter point was our thinking. Building a community in one place for this kind of thing, rather than having it fractured and making that comm be more specific to certain things, maybe that won't work though, we don't know.
Maybe it's incorrect of us, but it feels kind of offputting or scary to post such question in a general comm, rather than one tailor made for it and so we wanted to offer that as an option, we're fine if it doesn't work, but it just feels better to us for now.

Yes, yes, we know. We were just trying to do something nice and help peope feel better. Also, this isn't exactly the same things, at least in our mind(s), as a community on a website isn't exactly a standard and we're not expecting it to succeed nor fail, we'll just see.
